Jerry Lawler Update: Talks To Cole, Sends Message To Fans (Updated)

The test results for Jerry "The King" Lawler reveal that the Hall of Famer has suffered no brain damage following his heart attack earlier this week. The news was first reported by WMC TV in Memphis.

"Memphis TV channel 3 reports @JerryLawler has NO brain damage from his Monday night heart attack," Jim Ross wrote on his Twitter. "Thank God for WWE doctors & EMTS."

Lawler suffered a heart attack on this past Monday's episode of RAW. Because of the amount of time it took to revive him backstage, there was concern about brain damage due to the lack of oxygen being supplied to his brain.

Lawler's ex-wife, Stacey Carter, responded to the news on Twitter, writing, "The rumors are true. I just got confirmation that @jerrylawler test results are in & he has NO brain damage. This is wonderful news!!!!!"

Lawler's son, Kevin, told TMZ that his father was now awake and responsive.

"[Jerry] is hooked up to tubes and is still not able to speak ? but he's writing stuff on a notepad to talk to people," Kevin told TMZ. "Not just brief notes, but detailed stories which show he knows where he is and what is going on."

WREG-TV reports that no further surgery will likely be needed for Lawler, and he may be sent home soon.

WWE posted the following update on Lawler's condition on their Twitter account on Wednesday afternoon: "As of Wednesday afternoon, @JerryLawler remains in a cardiac care unit in Montreal. His vital signs continue to be stable... He is awake, recognizes family members and is communicating with them. We continue to wish Jerry all the best for a full recovery."

Michael Cole stated on his Twitter Wednesday evening that he spoke to Lawler, who thanked the fans for their support, writing, "#wweuniverse you will never believe this! I just got off the phone with #jerrylawler and he is alert and in great spirits! #jerrylawler sends his love to you all and thanks you for all the support! He says the strap will be coming down soon! Folks #jerrylawler is going to win this!"
