WWE "Main Event" Recap: CM Punk Vs. Sheamus, Tag Tournament Continues

Welcome to the inaugural WrestlingInc.com WWE Main Event Recap.

The first show begins with a video intro and pyro. Michael Cole welcomes us to the show from Tulsa, OK. Cole is in the ring with the Miz and he welcomes us to the ring again. Miz puts himself and the show over and Cole says CM Punk faces Sheamus in a Champion vs. Champion match. Miz and Cole discuss the match in the ring. Cole sends to a video package of CM Punk, narrated by Punk and others, likely from his new DVD.

We go to the locker room where Punk is shadow-boxing. Paul Heyman is in there and Matt Striker approaches Punk about tonight's Champion vs. Champion match. Punk talks about respect and says he's looking forward to it. Paul Heyman says Punk is the best in the world.

We go back to the ring and Cole sends to Sheamus being interviewed by Josh Mathews in the back. Sheamus cuts a promo on Punk and says he will show him respect by shoving his boot down his throat. We go to a Sheamus video package.

We go to the ring for Sheamus' entrance and then go to commercial.

We're back and out comes CM Punk. Lilian does the formal introductions.

Champion vs. Champion: CM Punk vs. Sheamus

The ref has to keep the men slightly separated after the intros; they hand off their belts and the bell rings. They lock-up and go to a stalemate. They go again and Sheamus gets the upper hand with a headlock as Heyman looks on with concern and the WWE Tile cradled in his arms. Punk gets up and sends him in and hits a dropkick. Punk hits kicks in the corner but Sheamus gets a big boot up and goes up top but Punk pushes him off and he goes flying to the outside. We go to commercial.

We're back and Punk is giving Sheamus his own forearm-in-the-ropes spot. Sheamus drops Punk's throat across the ropes and goes to work in the corner. Punk turns the tables as Heyman nervously clutches the title. Punk kicks Sheamus in the back and drops a knee across his face. Punk keeps Sheamus down with a dropkick and a neckbreaker. Punk covers him and gets 2. Sheamus turns things up with axe handles as Punk bumps around for him. Sheamus hits a running powerslam and gets 2. Punk sells the pain. Sheamus goes for forearms in the ropes but Punk counters with a kick to the head and makes a cover for 2. We go to commercial.

We're back and Sheamus is selling his arm on the outside. Punk attempts an attack through the ropes but is shut down with a forearm. Sheamus hits a battering ram and gets 2. Sheamus calls for a Brogue Kick but Punk tries to escape as Sheamus grabs onto him. Punk rips the pad off one of the turnbuckles. Sheamus finally hits his forearm spot. Sheamus connects with White Noise and gets 2. Sheamus keeps Punk down with knees to the spine. Punk counters the Texas Cloverleaf and connects with a running knee to Sheamus in the corner. Punk follows up with a clothesline and goes up top and delivers his patented but borrowed elbow but Sheamus kicks out at 2. Punk calls for GTS but Sheamus catches Punk's leg and applies the Cloverleaf. Punk writhes in pain as he reaches the bottom rope. Punk fights out of the corner and charges in for another knee but Sheamus catches him with a backbreaker across his knee. Punk drop-toe-holds Sheamus into the exposed turnbuckle as Sheamus charges in for the Brogue Kick and steals the win.

Winner by pin: CM Punk

Heyman joins Punk and hands him his title from the apron. They walk up the ramp. Striker confronts Sheamus in the ring as Sheamus tries to recover and asks him his thoughts. Sheamus grabs the mic and walks to the center of the ring and says there is a reason Punk keeps asking for respect and never gets it. He promises Punk when he meets him again, he will deliver a Brogue Kick to his chin. Cole and Miz discuss things and Cole says Punk will speak after the break.

We're back and we go to CM Punk in his locker room. Heyman interrupts Mathews and asks what else it would take for Punk to prove he's the best. Mathews says that facing Cena at Hell in a Cell might do it. Heyman says that Punk is a living legend.

We go back to Cole and Miz at ringside. Cole puts the show over and says that next week, Randy Orton faces the Big Show.

Cole sends to Striker in the back with the Big Show. Show says next week will be Orton's first and last appearance on the show. Show puts his fist in Striker's face and the camera zooms in on it and Show says it will be the last thing Orton sees.

Cole says the tag team tournament continues next. We go to the ring for Santino & Zack Ryder's entrance and go to commercial.

Tyson Kidd & Justin Gabriel make their entrance.

#1 Contender Tag Team Title Tournament: Santino & Zack Ryder vs. Tyson Kidd & Justin Gabriel

Gabriel starts off with Santino. Gabriel holds tight to a headlock. Santino gets out and hits an armdrag. They both tag out. Kidd and Ryder have a nice exchange with Ryder getting the best of things with a faceplant. Kidd tags Gabriel behind Ryder's back and they deliver a beautiful and effective tandem combination ending with a vicious kick to the head. Gabriel makes the cover for 2. The innovative tag team wrestling continues and Kidd comes off the top with an elbow to Ryder for 2. Ryder tries to steal a pin but Kidd reverses with a combination of kicks for 2. Ryder catches Kidd with a double knee and sets up for the Boot but tags Santino before he goes in. Ryder connects and then takes out Gabriel on the outside with a summersault. Santino pulls out the cobra and connects on Kidd for the win.

Winners by pin: Santino & Zack Ryder

We see the brackets for the Tag Team Tournament. Santino and Ryder celebrate in the ring. Cole reminds us of next week's main event and signs off.
