WWE "Main Event" Recap: Orton Vs. Big Show, Kofi And Miz Have Words-Make Title Match

Michael Cole welcomes us to San Jose and the show on voice-over, then he and Miz welcome us to the show again from inside the ring. Miz puts himself over then Cole tells us that Randy Orton faces Big Show, tonight. Cole talks about Show's iron-clad contract and sends to a video package of his career highlights, narrated by John Cena, Arn Anderson, Pat Patterson, and Show?himself. We go to the locker room where Josh Mathews interrupts Show and asks his mindset for tonight's match. Show cuts a promo on him and the fans. He shoves his fist in Josh's face and threatens him. For the record, his fist is about half the size of Josh's head. We go back to the ring as Miz ponders and with a grave voice talks about how the WMD feels. Cole talks about the size of Show's fist and makes a similar sentiment to my own. We go to a video for Orton. Matt Striker interviews Orton in the back. Orton says he will see Del Rio soon. Regarding his recent loss to the Big Show, he says lightning doesn't strike twice but a Viper can. We go Orton's entrance and then commercial.

We return to the Big Show's entrance.

Big Show vs. Randy Orton

We see a video of Show giving a WMD to Orton from 2 weeks ago and here we go. Orton backs him into the corner with punches but Show powers him back. Orton takes back over with shots on the 2nd rope in the corner. Show rebounds with a big right hand to Orton's injured ribs. Show hits some loud chops in the corner. Orton tries to fight back but Show stays on the ribs. Show hits a bodyslam and drops an elbow for 2. Miz talks about Ric Flair's Hall of Fame speech where he said he wants Show to live up to his potential. Orton gets a window of offense but Show runs him over with a shoulder. Cole talks about Orton learning from Flair and HHH in Evolution. The action goes to the outside and Show hits a loud chop but Orton turns the tables on Show's shoulder and sends Show into the steel post as we go to commercial.

We're back and Show is in control of Orton in the ring. Show stands on Orton's ribs with leverage from the ropes. Show allows Orton to get up and Orton feeds off the cheers. Show resumes with a bearhug. Orton finally breaks free with headbutts and tosses Show over the top rope. We go to commercial.

We're back as Orton stomps Show on the mat. Orton drops a leaping knee for 2. Show hits the ribs of Orton again to give him some time to regroup as Orton sells on the mat. Show stands on his opponent again. Orton fights back with shots to the ribs also; Show hits a side slam for 2. Show applies a Claw to the ribs. Orton bumps around for Show but catches him with a well-placed dropkick. Orton crawls over and covers Show who kicks out with authority, sending Orton to the outside. Orton drop toe-holds Show onto the steel steps at ringside. Orton rolls in to break the ref's count. Show makes it onto the apron but is greeted with a Superkick and a DDT in the ropes. Miz notes that Show's feet were on the 3rd rope instead of the usual 2nd, and that is more punishing. Orton hooks the far leg but Show kicks out at 2. Orton slowly gets up and pans the crowd as they chant, "RKO." Orton coils-up and waits for Show to get up. Orton hits the RKO but Show rolls out of the ring. Orton rolls out and calls for a 2nd RKO. Show blocks it and sends Orton's ribs into apron. Show hits an elbow in the ring to Orton's back 4 consecutive times. Show applies a Colossal Clutch but Orton finally makes it to his feet only to be hit with a chokeslam for the loss.

Winner by pin: Big Show

Show immediately leaves the ring and we see a replay. Show gets on a mic on the stage and he says he will knock Sheamus out in 2 weeks and he will become the world's largest champion. We go to the ring as Orton is checked on by officials. We see a graphic for Sheamus as Cole says he will speak next.

We're back and Sheamus gives Josh an interview in the back. Sheamus says Big Show is his biggest challenge but he's looking forward to it and that is what he came to WWE for.

We go to the ring for Kofi Kingston's entrance and then to a commercial.

A promo for RAW is shown featuring the closing moments from Monday's show. Who will CM Punk choose to battle at Hell in a Cell: Cena or Ryback?

We're back as the next match is underway.

Kofi Kingston vs. Michael McGillicutty

Kofi makes a cover for 2. Miz talks about making Kofi relevant again this past Monday with Larry King. Meanwhile, McGillicutty gets 2 on Kofi. We see an inset clip of Larry's wife throwing water on Miz. McGillicutty sends Kofi into the corner but Kofi counters with a head-scissors takedown which sends McGillicutty face-first into the turnbuckle. Kofi hits a flurry of signature offense. McGillicutty ducks the Trouble in Paradise but Kofi drops him with a nice S.O.S and keeps him rolled up for the win.

Winner by pin: Kofi Kingston

Miz gets in the ring with his title and gives Kofi a mic and tells him, "nice win." Kofi says it was fun. Miz gives him a series of "Really?" Miz says vacations are fun but not this ring. Miz mocks Kofi and says Kofi's attitude devalues Miz' title. Kofi laughs and Miz says he will never be on Miz' level. Kofi says maybe he's hiding a dagger behind his smile but unless Miz faces him, he'll never know. Miz tells him to name the time and place. Kofi says next week on this show with the Intercontinental Championship on the line. Miz dismisses the notion with a smile and a shake of his head. Kofi says look who's laughing now. Kofi says just over a year ago, HE was Intercontinental Champion. Miz agrees after a pause and says he's on. Kofi says, "Sounds like fun." Miz tries to cheap-shot him but Kofi ducks and hits the Trouble in Paradise. Kofi raises the title over his head as he stands over Miz in the ring. We see a graphic of the match for next week already ready.
