ROH News: Matt Hardy, Briscoe Brothers Note, Return Of Defy Or Deny, And More
- Last Sunday at Final Battle 2012: Doomsday, popular tag team Jay and Mark Briscoe were successful in their match against Steve Corino and Jimmy Jacobs for their 8th ROH World Tag Team Titles. Immediately after becoming the new champions, Jay Briscoe took to the mic and issued an open challenge to any team that think they deserve a shot at the titles. It was then announced that on January 5, 2013, on the first Ring of Honor of the New Year in Baltimore, the Briscoe brothers will defend their ROH World Tag Team Titles against Caprice Coleman and Cedric Alexander. Tickets for the event are on sale now.
- Furthermore, on January 18th in Dearborn, Michigan, the Briscoe brothers will face the newly reunited tag team American Wolves (Eddie Edwards and Davey Richards). After Jay Briscoe's words following their win at Final Battle 2012: Doomsday on the 16th, if the Briscoe brothers successfully defend their championships against Coleman and Alexander on the 5th of January, then the American Wolves/Briscoe brothers match will be for the ROH World Tag Team Titles. Tickets for the event are also on sale now.
- "Defy or Deny" will make its long awaited return on January 19, 2013 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. ROH World Champion Kevin Steen will face off against Roderick Strong, Eddie Edwards and Michael Elgin in a non-title elimination match. As per the stipulations of the match, if Steen is eliminated, then the winner of the match will receive a future title shot. However, if Steen is the last man standing, then whomever he pinned to win the match will never receive a title shot for the duration of Steen's reign. Tickets are on sale now.
- Last Sunday at Final Battle 2012: Doomsday, Matt Hardy defeated ROH World Television Champion Adam Cole in a non-title match through less than honest methods. Quickly bolting up the ramp, Matt Hardy left an understandably upset Adam Cole in the ring. Nigel McGuinness then made it well known he didn't approve of Hardy's actions, and that Cole will have his opportunity for revenge as Hardy will be in attendance for the January 5th TV tapings in Baltimore, and the January 19th live event in Milwaukee.
