WWE Main Event Recap: Truth & Kofi Vs. Barrett & Cesaro, New TLC Main Event

We begin this week with the opening video and go to pyro and crowd shots. Michael Cole welcomes us to Charleston, SC. Miz is on color. Cole tells us that Punk underwent surgery yesterday. We will have a statement from Vince McMahon later. Tonight, Kofi Kingston faces Antonio Cesaro in a Champion vs. Champion match. We are sent to a video from last week where this match came about.

-We go to Kofi in the back. Josh Mathews asks his thoughts. Kofi says people know him as the guy with the smile but when he beat the Miz for the Intercontinental Title, something was unleashed in him, an intensity.

-We see footage of Cesaro pinning Kofi this past Monday. We go to a Cesaro highlight package.

-Antonio Cesaro is introduced to the ring by Lilian Garcia. Cesaro comes to the ring and says despite the fans' efforts, he is still the US Champion. He keeps cutting a promo and gets a loud USA chant. He says he welcomes the chants because we now live in the United States of Antonio. Kofi's music hits and he comes down to the ring. We go to break.

Kofi Kingston vs. Antonio Cesaro

Wade Barrett has joined commentary, along with R-Truth. The bell rings and they go right at it. Miz and Wade banter at ringside. Kofi mounts Cesaro in the corner and unloads with several intense shots. Cesaro fights out with his trademark uppercut. Cesaro applies a headlock and tosses Kofi to the mat. Kofi fights up and sends Cesaro in but Cesaro comes off the ropes with a shoulderblock. Kofi leapfrogs him a couple of times as Cesaro runs the ropes then Kofi hits a flying reverse elbow which sends Cesaro flying to the floor. Kofi follows that up with a suicide dive through the ropes and onto Cesaro. Barrett stands up and locks eyes with Kofi and they have words. Kofi brings Cesaro back in and only gets 1. Cesaro rolls to the apron and then brings Kofi over the ropes with him and drops him on his (Kofi) arm as Cesaro drops to the floor. Cesaro works the hurt arm in the ring. Cesaro slams Kofi in a gut-wrench and gets 2. Kofi moves in the corner and catches Cesaro with a kick to the head. Kofi springs off the top rope but Cesaro catches him, in midair, in an armbar and pulls back on it on the mat, trying to get a submission. Kofi rolls through and puts Cesaro's shoulders down for 2. Cesaro recovers quickly with and takes Kofi down with a vicious tackle as we go to a commercial.

Back to action as Kofi flies off the top and is caught in midair by a Cesaro uppercut. Kofi kicks out at 2. Kofi launches Cesaro onto the apron then suplexes him back in. Kofi starts a flurry in the ring. He hits the Boom Drop and looks for the finisher as Cesaro slowly gets up. Barrett storms the ring as the bell rings. Truth rushes the ring and takes care of Cesaro as Barrett and Kofi brawl. Truth helps Kofi with Wade and Wade goes to the outside.

Winner by disqualification (unannounced): Kofi Kingston

Truth grabs a mic and says it seems everyone wants to fight. He calls for a tag match right now. Kofi agrees as well as Little Jimmy and the crowd. Cesaro and Barrett also agree from ringside.

Kofi & Truth vs. Barrett & Cesaro

The bell rings as Barrett storms the ring to start things off with Truth. Truth clotheslines him over the top and to the floor as we go to break.

Back to action as Barrett hits a shoulderblock in the ring and Truth responds with a front dropkick. Truth tags in Kofi for some double teaming. Kofi covers Wade for 2. Wade tags Cesaro. Kofi tags Truth back in and they double team Cesaro. Truth lands a signature dropkick but Cesaro kicks out at 2. Truth tags Kofi back in and Kofi flies off the top with an elbow for another near fall. Kofi lands some kicks to Cesaro while holding on to an armbar. Cesaro backs Kofi into Cesaro's corner and tags Barrett who takes control on Kofi. Barrett works the injured arm as the crowd cheers for Kofi. Cesaro back in now. Kofi monkey-flips him and leaps into the corner to tag Truth. Truth turns it up against Cesaro. Cesaro rolls to the outside and Truth gives chase. Barrett and Cesaro get the best of Truth on the floor and double team him in the ring. Barrett is the legal man as he hits a vicious boot to Truth's face for 2. Barrett continues to dominate as we take another break.

Barrett kicks Truth to the floor as we return. Cesaro goes out and sends Truth back in. Cesaro is the legal man now as he keeps Truth at bay from his corner. Truth hits a massive flying kick to create some space as both he and Cesaro struggle to get up. Truth crawls to get to Kofi as Cesaro hangs onto his leg. Truth kicks him off as both men tag and Kofi comes flying in and hits a high-paced flurry on Barrett. Kofi hits a crossbody for 2. Wade hits a kick to the gut and tags Cesaro back in. Kofi is on fire and hits the SOS on Cesaro but Wade breaks the cover. Truth comes in and takes care of Barrett. Cesaro ducks the Trouble in Paradise and shoves Kofi into the corner. Truth tags himself in on Kofi's back and comes off the top with a sunset flip on an unsuspecting Cesaro. Kofi provides the assist with a kick to the head to make Cesaro fall and Truth gets the pin.

Winners by pin: Kofi Kingston & R-Truth

Kofi & Truth celebrate in the ring. Matt Striker asks their thoughts in the ring. Kofi says there is a storm coming for Wade Barrett and he cannot wait to bring the thunder, BOOM. Truth says the people don't want a chump as US Champion, they want the Truth.

-A RAW Rebound is shown.

-Cole reads from Mr. McMahon's statement which is shown on-screen and from WWE.com. It says Punk's knee surgery was successful but he is unable to defend his title at TLC. He says Ryback deserves a title shot and will get one in the near future. The statement further says that due to recent events, The Shield will take on Team Hell No in a TLC Match, decided only via pin or submission. Cole says that next week, Ryback faces Antonio Del Rio, as the graphic is shown and we go off the air to a video package of Ryback driving Punk through a table.
