WWE NXT Recap: Seth Rollins Defends NXT Championship, Sasha Banks Vs. Tamina, More
In the first new edition of NXT of 2013, Seth Rollins is set to defend his title against Corey Graves.
The Shield tearing up some people in the ring interrupts the usual intro. Dusty Rhodes comes out and confronts them from the ramp. The Shield says that they have taken over Raw and Smackdown, and now they're taking over NXT. Rollins holds up his belt.
Dusty Rhodes basically says that he is disappointed in the path Rollins took. He tells Rollins he will be defending his belt against Graves. Ambrose tells Rhodes not to tell them what to do. Rhodes responds by telling Rollins that if he doesn't defend his belt, he will strip him of it.
Rollins says that they will right the injustice that is Graves, and then Reigns says that Rhodes is just paying The Shield's rent.
Bo Dallas vs. Epico
This is Bo Dallas' first match since feeling the WMD from Big Show following Dallas' open challenge a few weeks back. The two tie up and Dallas takes control early on.
Dallas hits a couple of big shoulder knockdowns, and Epico gets backed into the corner. Epico mounts some offense with a big knee to the gut, and some kicks.
Epico hits a nice Suplex for a two count. He then applies a Body Scissor on Dallas, and Dallas fights back with some elbows to the head. Epico presses the attack however, and takes control back.
Dallas fights back but Epico nails a dropkick that sends him literally spinning. They trade shots and Dallas comes back with an Overhead Suplex. Dallas hits the Spear for the win.
Winner: Bo Dallas
After the match, Primo and Epico try to get the jump on Dallas, but Michael McGillicutty runs out for the save.
Sasha Banks vs. Tamina
Tamina instantly attacks Banks and hits a big clothesline. Tamina stomps Banks on the mat for a two count.
She presses the attack and hits Banks with a body slam. Tamina locks in a modified abdominal stretch, but Banks fights out and hits Tamina with some big chops. Banks hits a quick roll up for a one count, but Tamina counters with a Samoan Drop.
Tamina pulls Banks by her hair to the corner and hits the Superfly Splash for the win.
Winner: Tamina
After the match, William Regal puts over Banks and says she will be a serious competitor in the Diva division.
Kassius Ohno and Leo Kruger vs. Tyson Kidd and Justin Gabriel
Ohno and Kidd start things off. They tie up and Kidd takes control. He backs Ohno into his corner and Gabriel tags in. After the double team, Gabriel backs Ohno against the ropes and Ohno counters with a kick to the gut. Ohno tags in Kruger, but Gabriel presses the attack and tags in Kidd.
Kidd goes for a pin, and then tags Gabriel back in. He hits Kruger with some big kicks, and then tags Kidd back in. Kidd locks in a headlock and Kruger fights back.
Kidd goes for the Sharpshooter, but Kruger fights to the ropes and escapes to the outside. Kidd holds the ropes open and Gabriel dives through Ohno. Kidd then springs off the ropes and takes out Kruger.
They head back into the ring and Kidd is in control of Kruger. Kruger reverses and hits a Spinebuster. He drags Kidd to the corner and tags in Ohno, who nails some big strikes. Ohno hits a body slam for a two count.
Kruger comes in with a snap Suplex for a near pin fall. He tags in Ohno, who taunts Kidd and hits a knee to the head. Kruger back in for a one count. Ohno and Kruger go for a double team, but Kidd fights back and tags in Gabriel. He hits a cross body on Ohno, and presses the attack. Kruger back in, who hits the Kruger End for the win.
Winners: Kassius Ohno and Leo Kruger
They celebrate in the ring after the match.
Corey Graves vs. Seth Rollins for the NXT Championship
They trade strikes in the center of the ring and Graves takes control. Graves locks in an inside cradle for two count. Graves goes to work on Rollins' knee.
Rollins fights back with a few Knife Edge chops, but Graves hits a big clothesline. Rollins tosses Graves onto the ropes, and then slaps Graves. Rollins hits a high knee for a near pin fall.
Rollins presses the attack, and slaps Graves again. Graves fights back with some big punches and a leg takedown. Rollins hits an Enziguri, but Graves fights back and attacks Rollins' knee again. Graves locks in The 13th Step, but The Shield interrupts the match and attacks Graves.
Winner By DQ: Corey Graves, Rollins Still NXT Champion
Dusty Rhodes sends the locker room out to the ring, but The Shield cleans house and throws everyone out of the ring except for Bo Dallas. They hit their Triple Powerbomb on Dallas.
Big E. Langston comes out and slowly walks to the ring. The Shield leaves the ring. Dusty Rhodes announces that next week, Rollins will defend the NXT Championship against Langston to end the show.
