Extreme Rising Star Luke Hawx Talks About His Thoughts On Shane Douglas, Extreme Rising & More

Extreme Rising star, former WWE wrestler and head trainer for Wildkat Sports & Entertainment Luke Hawx joined Kayfabe Wrestling Radio. In a nearly 25 minute interview, he discussed this weekend's event with Wildkat Sports & Entertainment and his involvement with the organization, his feud with Steve Anthony and how that feud came about, the dos and don'ts for new wrestlers to the business, his involvement with Extreme Rising and his feelings about some in the locker room and especially Shane Douglas, his views on Matt Hardy and their history, his stunt work and the recent films he's been involved in and more. Here are some highlights from the interview:

How his feud with Steve Anthony came about: "The real fact is Steve was somebody I hit the roads with, we traveled a lot together. We came up together; he's been in the business a few years longer than me. He's a talented guy; I can't take nothing away from the guy talent wise. I mean he's been Harley Race's head trainer, he's been over to New Orleans a few times; always works with WWE. You know he's a talented guy but he's got that jealousy side of him and the more I did, the more jealous he would get. Eventually he turned his back on me and it is what it is. So, we are where we are and he plays dirty and he's someone I cared for like a brother and I don't know what to say about the subject honestly. We are where we are and he's going to get what he's got coming to him."

His initial invasion of Extreme Rising and his opinion of Shane Douglas: "Naw, I really wasn't expecting it; I expected more of a fight. I expected to probably to go to jail but that didn't happen because no one stepped up. I hated that, man; I didn't hate what I did. I hated the fact that they were going to babysit all these drug addicts and losers and cater to them. And that was a shoot, and I was very outspoken about it. I hate Shane Douglas, I hate Shane to this day and that's what got me there. Some of the other promoters involved, they said I was putting out these videos about Shane Douglas and I was calling a spade a spade. He is a hypocrite; he is exactly what he claimed that he hated all these years. He is 'that guy' in that locker room; he's the jerk off. He's the guy who tells you one thing and stabs you in the back and does another; he's the guy holding the younger guys down.

"So, I started calling him out when I started making these videos and there's no love lost there; he don't like me and I don't like him. So, these guys approached me and I said I was coming one way or another; they knew I was serious. So, I came and they wanted to work something out with me and they wanted to work a program and I'm open to work but here's the thing, I'm not going to go there and put Shane Douglas over; there ain't no way in hell. I can't stand him. Do I want to get in a ring with Shane? Yes, I want to beat the hell out of Shane. I would love for fans to put that match together for the shows, but don't expect it to be a five-star classic; the dude can't do anything. I'm just going to bust his face in, so if you want to see someone get their head split open, please tell them to book me versus Shane Douglas."

His views on Extreme Rising: "Here's the thing about Extreme Rising: they've got a good following. There are a lot of talented guys but after that first show, they crapped the bed; they crapped the bed. They catered to all these guys who didn't give a damn and had chance after chance, all these opportunities and they blew every single one because they wanted to do drugs; because they didn't care. They didn't care about the fans; these are guys using the fans for money; they're charging $20-$30 for pictures and they're broke the same night because they blow it all on drugs. That's disrespectful. I wrestle because I love it and it provides for my family. I mean, this is how I feed my family. I don't work another job, well I'm a stuntman, but besides that I don't work a 9-5 job; I'm a pro wrestler for a living. So, it's very offensive when I see these guys get these opportunities, golden opportunities, and they don't give a damn about it and they're disrespectful and they can't perform. Guys like Justin Credible and Sabu passing out in the locker room.

"Look, I like Justin Credible, I do. I like Sabu. I respect them a lot; but it's just one of those things where these guys, they didn't care. They were going out there and the same old song and dance and it's like come on man; how much can the fans keep on going forward and paying money to see that and getting ripped off. They need to see guys who want to be there and want to be hard working. Who want to sit there and bust their ass and put on a good show for the fans. Now, fans don't have to agree with me, you know a lot of people don't like what I got to say, but one thing is I'll promise you, I'll never talk crap. I'm a straight shooter; I'm not going to B.S. you and I'm not going to lie to you. I'll always tell you 100% the truth and I hate people who are disrespectful to the business. I think it kills the business; there's too much going on, too many companies now struggling.

"What other good companies do you have in the US now, that are drawing good shows and having good profits, making profits? There's not many, they're few and far between and that's my point. So, to have a good opportunity and have a show and have a show draw over 2,000 people; you'd think these guys would be on their best behavior, trying to kill themselves and make these people want to come back in a month, or two months, or three months to see them again so they could get good paydays. But no, what did they do? They went in there and screwed it all up and got as high as they could and just didn't care. It was poorly book because Shane Douglas had his hands involved in it, so of course he had to put himself in the main event, knowing he was out of shape, knowing he couldn't perform, but his ego couldn't let him do it. Just like Pittsburgh; he had to put himself in the main event, because it's Pittsburgh, same deal, knowing he's our of shape. And he would have put himself over, I'm sure, if I wouldn't have almost killed Matt Hardy."
