The Rock's New Movie Expected To Open Huge, Mick Foley Note, How Are Reviews For Fast 6?

- Fast 6, featuring The Rock, opened strong last night. Despite competition from The Hangover Part III, Fast 6 earned $6.5 million in late night shows and is expected to take in more than $100 million through Monday, according to MTV News. In contrast, The Hangover Part III is expected to earn $80 million in the same time frame.

"While '6' usually translates to franchise fatigue, this series doesn't play by the rules, and Universal has done a great job beefing up each installment," Exhibitor Relations senior box-office analyst Jeff Bock said of Fast 6 to MTV News. "In 'Fast Five,' they added Dwayne Johnson and in '6' they brought Michelle Rodriguez's character back from the dead. Plus, instead of a car-racing series, 'Fast & Furious' has morphed into a heist-film franchise, extending its audience and lengthening its play-ability."

- Speaking of The Hangover Part III, as noted yesterday, there is a brief scene in the film where one of the characters is watching a CM Punk – John Cena match.

- Fast 6 is also garnering good reviews. The movie is currently at a 73% on movie aggregator site RottenTomatoes.com (a 60% is considered good). Of the 108 critics reviews counted as of this writing, 79 were positive and 29 were negative. It's faring better with critics than Rock's other recent releases: GI Joe: Retaliation (28%), Snitch (58%) and Pain & Gain (46%).

- WWE Hall of Famer Mick Foley will be performing his comedy act at Rivalry Championship Wrestling's Fan Fest 3 on June 22nd at 11pm at the Seaport Inn and Marina in Fairhaven, MA. VIP Packages are available for $30, and include an autograph from Foley as well as seating in the first two rows. There are only 40 VIP Packages available. General admission tickets are $20 and can be purchased at rivalrychampionshipwrestling.com.

- Foley will also make an appearance at the Columbus Clippers vs. Syracuse Chiefs game tonight at Huntington Park in Columbus, OH. He will then participate in an autograph signing this Saturday at 12:15pm in Astoria, NY. You can get more details at this link.
