Steve Austin Comments On Mark Henry Angle, Being A Part Of Highest Rated RAW Segment
Steve Austin was a guest on Live Audio Wrestling this past Sunday promoting the current season of Redneck Island. You can download and listen to the full interview at this link, here are some highlights transcribed by Chris Maffei. You can catch Live Audio Wrestling every Sunday night at 11pm EST on TSN 1050 Toronto, The TEAM 1410 Vancouver, Sirius/XM channel 167 and at liveaudiowrestling.com.
His reaction to the Mark Henry retirement angle: "I caught it mid-way through – Mark laying down his retirement speech, the tears are coming from his eyes – but coming from that business, I saw it a mile away. When you've got John Cena as window dressing out there with that gold belt, you know if you've been around long enough that something's going to happen, there's gonna be an angle coming out of this. Mark Henry was tremendous, I loved it. Cena was the perfect guy to help him accomplish this task, I loved every second of it."
Being part of highest Raw quarter-hour in history in June 1999 against The Undertaker: "I didn't even know that it had done that kind of number, but that just shows how crazy the business was back then. It was on fire, and had so much momentum going, so many great storylines. It's a rabid fan base; you gotta love WWE fans. They stick with you, and when things get good they'll jump on, and when things get bad they hang on and wait for them to get good."
