Wrestling Officially Restored As An Olympic Sport

The International Wrestling Committee (IOC) made the decision today to officially restore wrestling in the line-up for the 2020 Olympic Games, scheduled to be hosted in Tokyo, Japan.

The Olympics made the announcement via Twitter, stating:

As many know, former WWE and TNA World Heavyweight Champion Kurt Angle has been very vocal about saving wrestling as an Olympic sport, using avenues such as Impact Wrestling broadcasts and Twitter to show his support of the cause.

Jack Swagger also showed his elation on Twitter, stating, "We did it!!! WRESTLING will continue to be a Olympic Sport!!! #SAVEDOlympicWrestling SAVEDOlympicWrestling SAVEDOlympicWrestling"

The vote also confirmed wrestling for the 2024 Olympics.
