John Dodson vs. Darrell Montague

Round 1: The first round of the pay-per-view card opens with Dodson and Montague touching gloves. Dodson is utilizing quick footwork and a solid jab early on. Dodson lands a solid overhand left that finds the mark. Nice leg kick by Montague. Dodson answers back. Dodson wings another big overhand left that is partially blocked by Montague. Dodson fakes another big left and scores with the right. Montague is pumping his jab out now and attempting to close the distance on Dodson. Dodson is again using good footwork and circling well. Dodson scores with another solid left hand. We're half-way through the round now and the crowd is getting restless. Dodson drops Montague with a huge left. Dodson hoists Montague up and slams him down hard. Dodson lands a vicious combination of punches as Montague is up against the cage. Montague manages to weather the storm and he appears to have survived a near finish. Montague lands a decent punch of his own now. Dodson lands another bomb. Joe Rogan is putting over the recovery time of Montague. One minute left in the opening frame. Dodson lands a huge shot and Montague does a Ric Flair-flop on his face. He's out. Dodson with a huge first round knockout. Mike Goldberg says it was the third fastest first-round knockout in flyweight history.

After opening the show with the little guys, it's time for our first big-boy fight of the evening. The heavyweights are next up, with Gabriel Gonzaga and Shawn Jordan heading to the cage.

Gabriel Gonzaga vs. Shawn Jordan

Round 1: Gonzaga is sporting a wicked mustache for ths fight. Both guys are starting off slow, respecting each others' abilities. Gonzaga scores first with a stiff jab. Gonzaga just misses with a decent body punch attempt. Nice leg kick by Gonzaga. Jordan is pawing with the jab, but hasn't scored yet. Jordan misses a shot and Gonzaga drops him with a solid right hook. Perfect shot. Gonzaga jumps on top of Jordan and finishes the job with a series of punches. It's over that quick, folks. The official decision is a TKO, but the right hook that dropped Jordan was all that was needed.

A very highly anticipated lightweight bout between former training partners is up next. Diego Sanchez is doing his "Yes!" chant on the way to the cage. Out next is the former Strikeforce lightweight champion and former UFC lightweight title contender, Gilbert Melendez.

Gilbert Melendez vs. Diego Sanchez

Round 1: The fans in Houston are hot for this one. Sanchez runs at Melendez as soon as the round begins. Melendez is pawing with the jab early on. Melendez attempts a high kick but Sanchez catches it and takes him down. Sanchez gets Melendez's back and Melendez stands up. Sanchez stays on Melendez's back and is looking for a standing rear-naked-choke. Melendez shucks him off. They scramble back to their feet and separate. Melendez lands a good shot to the body of Sanchez. Good leg kick by Sanchez. Sanchez attempts a big high-kick but Melendez blocks it. Sanchez looking for a takedown now but Melendez avoids it and hits Sanchez with a decent knee to the face. Sanchez lands a good punch to the face of Melendez. We're half way through the round. Sanchez with another failed takedown attempt. Melendez cracks Sanchez with a solid right hand. Sanchez with a good kick to the body of Melendez. Melendez answers back with a solid punch to Sanchez's face. Sanchez is cut and bleeding now as a result. Sanchez misses a spinning back-kick. Sanchez with another takedown attempt that is easily stuffed by Melendez. Melendez with a nice uppercut. Melendez with a nice body shot. Sanchez lands a decent body kick. Blood is pouring over the left eye of Sanchez. Sanchez stuns Melendez briefly with a good shot. The two slug like crazy animals to finish out the last 10 seconds of the round. Melendez drops Sanchez with a wild, looping hook. Sanchez popped right back up and the two traded crazy punches some more to finish the round. Round 2: Between rounds we see the cleaned up cut over Sanchez's left eye. It's a very bad cut. The second round begins and the two feel each other out for a little bit. A "let's go Diego" chant breaks out early on. Melendez is looking loose on his feet now, seemingly settling into his comfort zone. Sanchez connects with a decent right hand. Melendez answers back with one of his own. Melendez just misses a big knee to the face of Sanchez. Melendez lands a leg-kick and the referee breaks the action. They are checking the cut of Sanchez. They clean Sanchez's cut up a bit and the action resumes. The crowd popped huge for that. Good body kick by Melendez. Sanchez misses with a homerun right hook attempt. Both guys are swinging wildly again back and forth. Melendez landed the better shots in that exchange. Sanchez misses a big kick and falls down. Melendez tried to capitalize but Sanchez quickly returned to his feet. Melendez lands a good counter right hand as Sanchez was coming in. Sanchez lands a decent body kick. Melendez answers back with a combination of punches, finishing up with a strong body shot. Sanchez takes Melendez down but Melendez quickly gets back to his feet. Sanchez's eye is looking pretty bad again. Lots of blood pouring into the eye of Sanchez. Sanchez ended up on the ground after a punch by Melendez. That may have been a slip, however. Either way, both guys are back on their feet and trading punches. This fight is living up to the billing without a doubt. The horn sounds to end the second and the crowd explodes again. Round 3: The third round begins. Melendez lands a decent jab and misses on a wild body shot attempt. Sanchez answers back with a decent punch of his own. Sanchez works some kicks again. Both guys exchange punches wildly. Sanchez may have gotten the better of that particular exchange. Both guys trade a wild exchange of punches. And again. And again. Wow. The intensity is picking up like crazy now ladies and gentlemen. Melendez is scoring with the cleaner more powerful punches each time, despite the crowd chanting "Diego, Diego" now and the announcers putting over "what a savage" Sanchez is. Melendez is on his toes still here in the third, while Sanchez appears to be flat-footed. The referee breaks the action again and the crowd boo's like crazy. They are again checking the cut above Sanchez's left eye. The doctor can be heard saying, "it's going down the side," referring to the blood pouring out of Sanchez's face. The doctor exits the cage and the action will resume in a moment. The crowd explodes for that. A "Diego, Diego" chant immediately breaks out again as Sanchez lands a decent leg kick. Both guys are trading punches again and the crowd is going nuts. Sanchez pounds his chest after the exchange and tells Melendez to bring it on. The crowd reaction gets even louder. Another wild exchange and Sanchez drops Melendez! Amazing! Sanchez immediately jumps on Melendez's back on the ground and is looking for a rear-naked-choke. Melendez avoids it and Sanchez switches to a guillotine choke. It looked very tight but both guys are slippery and Melendez escapes. Melendez lands a huge knee as the two scramble back to their feet. One minute left in the round. The crowd is going absolutely ballistic. Another loud "Diego, Diego" chant breaks out. Melendez takes Sanchez down. Sanchez works his way back to his feet but Melendez is on his back. Melendez goes to take Sanchez down but Sanchez hits a nice switch and is on top of Melendez. They quickly scramble back to their feet. Sanchez lands a nice kick to the body. 10 seconds left in the third and final round of a crazy fight. The two swing like rockem-sockem robots to end the round in perfect fashion. Joe Rogan just called this the "new greatest fight." That round in particular was absolutely insane. Wow. Gilbert Melendez def. Diego Sanchez via Unanimous Decision (29-28, 30-27, 29-38) after 3 Rounds.

Coming up next is a highly anticipated heavyweight grudge match. Former Strikeforce Grand Prix champion Daniel Cormier will battle former Ultimate Fighter winner, "Big Country" Roy Nelson.

Daniel Cormier vs. Roy Nelson

Round 1: The referee calls for the fight to begin and here we go with a heavyweight grudge match. Win or lose, Cormier claims he's moving to light heavyweight after this fight. Cormier takes Nelson down off a single-leg pick. Nelson has a half-butterfly guard now on the bottom. Cormier transitions to side-control on top. Nelson cradles up and is looking to scramble back to his feet. Cormier does a good job of controlling Nelson from the top. Cormier pushes Nelson against the cage on the ground. Nelson wall-walks half-way back to his feet. Cormier has solid body-control over Nelson. Nelson powers up, but Cormier takes him right back down. Cormier is looking to take Nelson's back but doesn't get it. Cormier lands a decent knee to the face of Nelson. Nelson locks Cormier's arm up in a standing-kimura attempt, likely trying to get Cormier off of him and create some distance. Cormier avoids it after a brief scare and is controlling Nelson like the master-wrestler that he is. Cormier is keeping Nelson pressed against the cage for the majority of the first round. Cormier lands a decent knee to Nelson. Cormier may have landed a low-blow to Nelson. The referee breaks the guys. The replay shows that Cormier barely grazed Nelson low. Nelson is taking advantage of the stoppage to catch his breath. The action resumes and Cormier lands a decent body kick. Nelson lands a decent overhand right that grazes the chin of Cormier. That was a brief scary moment for Cormier fans. Cormier lands a decent body kick. Cormier with some good punches to the face of Nelson. Nelson smiles. Cormier is smiling back. The horn sounds to end the first round. WrestlingINC.com scores the round 10-9 for Daniel Cormier.

Round 2: Nelson comes out with some strong jabs to open the second frame. None find the mark, but Nelson has a look of determination in his eyes here. Nelson lands a decent shot and Cormier quickly backs up. Cormier with a wild overhand right that just misses Nelson. The pace is slow thus far in the second round. Cormier stuns Nelson briefly with a strong punch to the face. Cormier's corner can be heard yelling at him to work the body of Nelson. Cormier stuns Nelson again with another huge punch. Cormier is working a single-leg on Nelson and finally dumps him down to the mat. Nelson quickly pops back up to his feet. Cormier presses Nelson against the fence and now this is looking similar to the majority of the first round. Cormier continues to press Nelson against the cage, backing up briefly to land a quick combo of punches, before ultimately clinching and keeping Nelson inactive against the fence. The two separate now and Nelson takes a deep breath. Just over a minute left in the round as Cormier lands another solid punch to Nelson's face. Cormier with a mean leg kick that finds the mark. Nelson blocks a left high-kick attempt by Cormier. Joe Rogan claims Cormier may have injured his hand. The horn sounds to end another dominant round for Cormier. WrestlingINC.com scores the round 10-9 for Daniel Cormier.

Round 3: Cormier attempts a front kick that is blocked by Nelson to open the third and final round. Nelson needs a knockout here if he wants to win this one. Not the most exciting fight of the night on a card that has been full of very crowd-pleasing action. The main events make-or-break a show overall, so hopefully Cain Velasquez and Junior Dos Santos bring the excitement in the final bout of the evening. The crowd is voicing their displeasure at both combatants now as the action slows in what has up to this point been a slow-paced fight as it is. Cormier lands a nice kick right up the middle on Nelson. Nice body kick by Cormier. Cormier lands a solid straight-right as we approach the mid-way point of the final round. Cormier is throwing a lot of kicks in this round. Cormier lands a huge punch and immediately follows it up with a takedown. Within a blink of an eye, Nelson pops back to his feet. Nelson blocks a high kick attempt by Cormier. And another. Nelson is sticking his chin out now and daring Cormier to slug it out with him as we approach the final minute of the fight. Cormier continues to stay smart and avoid the unnecessary risks. Cormier lands a decent one-two with his hands and clinches after the punches connect. The two separate and Cormier lands another decent shot. Nelson lands a decent leg kick as the horn sounds to end the round. Not the most exciting fight you'll ever see, but certainly another impressive performance by Daniel Cormier. WrestlingINC.com scores the round 10-9 for Daniel Cormier.

Daniel Cormier def. Roy Nelson via Unanimous Decision (30-27, 30-27, 30-27) after 3 Rounds.

Finally, the fight we've all been waiting for. The third fight in what is being described as the "greatest trilogy in UFC history" between current UFC heavyweight champion Cain Velasquez, and former champion Junior Dos Santos.

Cain Velasquez (c) vs. Junior Dos Santos [UFC Heavyweight Title]

Round 1: The electricity can be felt in the Toyota Center as the first round begins. Dos Santos stuns Velasquez almost immediately with the first shot he threw. Joe Rogan says, "he's hurt." He was definitely stunned for a brief moment. He recovered quickly. Velasquez looking for a takedown. Velasquez looking for a guillotine choke. Dos Santos escapes with ease. Dos Santos lands another really good shot. Both guys are putting everything behind every punch they've thrown thus far. A loud "Cain, Cain" chant breaks out from the fans in Houston. Both guys exchange punches. This fight is extremely intense here in the first round. Velasquez has Dos Santos pressed against the fence now as we approach the mid-way point in the first round. Velasquez takes Dos Santos down. Mike Goldberg informs fans that this is the second takedown for Velasquez in this fight so far. Velasquez is working inside Dos Santos' half-guard. The crowd is loud even during the slow moments of this fight. Dos Santos is working his way back to his feet now. Velasquez is punching him on his way up, making him pay for the attempt to return to his feet. Dos Santos is now standing again, with Velasquez pushing him up against the cage. "This is a Cain Velasquez style fight thus far," says Mike Goldberg. The two get a tiny bit of space between them on the cage and Velasquez lands a solid punch. Dos Santos working some tight inside leg kicks as he remains stuck against the cage with Velasquez smothering him. The two separate and Dos Santos misses a wild spinning back-kick. The horn sounds to end an exciting first round. WrestlingINC.com scores the round 10-9 for Cain Velasquez.

Round 2: Velasquez scores first in the second round with a haymaker right hand. Dos Santos tries answering back but doesn't find the mark. Velasquez immediately bullies Dos Santos up against the fence again. Velasquez is landing some knees and kicks in close to the thighs of Dos Santos. Velasquez scores with a series of solid shots on the face of Dos Santos. Dos Santos tried bobbing and weaving, ala Anderson Silva, to avoid that combination from Velasquez. The two separate and Dos Santos is starting to bounce around on his toes now. Velasquez quickly closes the distance and pushes Dos Santos back up against the cage. The two separate again but within seconds, Velasquez pushes Dos Santos back aganist the cage. Dos Santos can't keep enough distance between the two to get anything going. This is quickly turning into a Velasquez fight. Dos Santos with a hip-toss on Velasquez but both guys immediately scramble back to their feet. Dos Santos' face is starting to swell up from the big shots landed by Velasquez. The two separate briefly again and Dos Santos lands a pretty decent shot on the side/back of Velasquez' head. Very similar to the shot that knocked him out in their first fight, however not as clean or as strong. "Junior may have hurt Cain at the end of that round," claims Joe Rogan as the horn sounds to end the second round. WrestlingINC.com scores the round 10-9 for Cain Velasquez.

Round 3: The third round begins and Velasquez immediately continues his gameplan of closing the distance and smothering Dos Santos up against the cage, all-the-while looking for a takedown. Dos Santos circles away for a bit, but eats a solid right hand from Velasquez for his effort. After that, Velasquez returns to form and has Dos Santos stuck against the cage yet again. 122 clinch strikes landed for Velasquez thus far, according to the graphic that was just shown on the screen. Dos Santos manages to create some space again and throws a wild haymaker punch that fails to find the mark. Velasquez pushes him against the cage again but Dos Santos is quick to get off this time. Both guys are circling now. Velasquez just nailed Dos Santos with an enormous shot and drops him. Velasquez almost stopped him with follow-up punches on the ground. Dos Santos is back to his feet and Velasquez drops him again. Referee Herb Dean touched Velasquez on the shoulder this time, nearly stopping the fight. Dos Santos is hurt but hanging in there as Velasquez pounds away at a standing Dos Santos against the fence. "The fence may be the only thing keeping him up, " says an excited Joe Rogan. 60 seconds left in the third round. Velasquez is continuing to smother Dos Santos aganist the cage and pick his shots. Good uppercut lands for Velasquez. Velasquez lands another huge bomb on the face of Dos Santos and Herb Dean almost steps in to stop it yet again. "What is keeping Dos Santos up?" says Joe Rogan. The crowd is going absolutely nuts in Houston, Texas, ladies and gentlemen. The horn sounds and Dos Santos survives a disasterous third round. The only debate in this round is whether to score it 10-8 or 10-7. WrestlingINC.com scores the round 10-8 for Cain Velasquez.

Round 4: The fourth round begins and almost immediately Velasquez blasts Dos Santos with an enormous shot. "How much more can he take," questions Joe Rogan. Seconds later, Velasquez lands one of his most vicious combinations of the fight. Several shots hurt Dos Santos very bad. Dos Santos may have the best chin in the UFC. Velasquez mixing up the attack now, as he lands a huge elbow on the face of Dos Santos as the two are pressed together up against the fence. Dos Santos clearly needs a knockout to have any chance of winning this fight, as a decision is completely out of the window at this point. Dos Santos, to his credit, is doing a good job of surviving. Velasquez backs up momentarily and Dos Santos wings a huge left hook that misses the mark. However, it's worth noting that Dos Santos appears to still have enough power in his shots to finish Velasquez if he's lucky enough for one to find the sweet spot. Dos Santos' face is a complete and utter mess at this point. "He's still got pop in his punches," explains Joe Rogan. The two separate and Dos Santos lands a decent uppercut on Velasquez. Velasquez again has Dos Santos stuck up against the cage and lands a decent elbow. Dos Santos tries to push Velasquez off, and he lands a decent elbow of his own. Velasquez appears to be bleeding now. Referee Herb Dean calls for a stop to the action to let the doctor check Dos Santos out. A close-up from the camera-man reveals a horribly swollen, battered, bruised and cut face of Dos Santos. The guy is badly beaten up but he is still giving it everything he has. The action resumes and Velasquez pushes Dos Santos back against the fence and goes back to work. Dos Santos lands a decent little elbow. The blood is running into Dos Santos' eye badly, as he keeps wiping his face every chance he gets. Velasquez with an elbow on Dos Santos. The round ends and the crowd is going completely nuts. Completely and totally nuts. "Wow! What a fight," exclaims Joe Rogan. And he's right. This fight is absolutely incredible. Sanchez-Melendez was a no-brainer for "Fight of the Night" up until this point, and will likely still win that bonus, but this fight is absolutely incredible in terms of a one-sided beatdown of a guy who refuses to quit, and still seems to have a chance to land a knockout shot if he can keep distance between himself and Velasquez long enough. Round 5: The fifth and final round begins of an amazing fight, and yes, this is the best trilogy in UFC history now. They said it during all of the build up for this fight, and they lived up to every bit of the expectations. Dos Santos swings wildly as the final round begins, but Velasquez manages to avoid the majority of the onslaught. Velasquez again has Dos Santos where he's wanted him throughout the night, which is stuck up against the cage and getting beaten on. Velasquez is working hard for a takedown on Dos Santos now, but Dos Santos manages to avoid it. Velasquez settles for pushing Dos Santos back up against the fence. Dos Santos creates a little bit of space for just a moment and throws a homerun right hand that misses the mark. Velasquez jumps right back on top of him and continues to smother him up against the fence. We're half-way through the fifth and final round now as Velasquez continues to punish Dos Santos up against the cage. Velasquez backs up for just a moment, lands a big right hand, and goes for a takedown. Dos Santos defends it. Dos Santos goes for a choke, but doesn't get it. As they fall down to the mat together, with Dos Santos attempting to secure a choke, Dos Santos bounces his forehead off the mat. He sits up briefly, covers up and tucks his head. Velasquez throws a few punches and Herb Dean has seen enough. He stops the fight. Cain Velasquez finally manages to stop Dos Santos. What an amazingly dominant performance by the UFC heavyweight champion.

Cain Velasquez def. Junior Dos Santos via TKO (strikes) at 3:09 of Round 5 to retain the UFC Heavyweight Title.
