Big Fight Off Of UFC On FOX 9 This Sat., Event Preview, Mark Hunt Fought With Broken Hand
- UFC on FOX 9 takes place this Saturday from Sacramento and will feature a flyweight title fight between champ Demetrious Johnson and Joseph Benavidez in the main event. Check out a preview for the fight card above.
- Unfortunately, the rumors have proven true and Matt "The Immortal" Brown has been forced out of a planned bout with Carlos Condit with an injury.
Condit and Brown were to appear on the main card of this weekend's UFC on FOX 9 fight card, but Brown has suffered a back injury that rendered him unable to compete. As it stands, it appears that Condit is willing to wait it out while Brown recovers.
With their spot on the main card empty, lightweights Joe Lauzon and Mac Danzig stepped up to fill in. Now, the main card features Johnson-Benavidez 2, Urijah Faber vs. Michael McDonald, Chad Mendes vs. Nik Lentz, and Lauzon vs. Danzig.
- It turns out that it takes more than a broken hand to stop Mark Hunt from participating in one of the greatest fights we've ever seen.
UFC president Dana White revealed recently through Twitter that Hunt fought for much of the bout against fellow heavyweight Antonio "Bigfoot" Silva with a broken paw.
"If you didn't think that @markhunt1974 and @BigfootSilva fight was insane already just found out Hunt broke hand in 2 places! Bad ass dudes," White posted.
Hunt followed that with a post to his Facebook wall featuring several images of his mangled hand. Check out the images by clicking the link, just in case you somehow weren't yet convinced of Hunt's toughness.
