UFC News: Diaz - Maynard Fight Highlights, TUF Winner Rips Ronda Rousey, TUF Finale Attendance
- Nate Diaz dominated Gray Maynard last night in their rubber match at The Ultimate Fighter 18 Finale. You can catch highlights of the fight above, as well as commentary from TUF 18 coaches Ronda Rousey and Miesha Tate.
- There's been a lot of talk about how Ronda Rousey's portrayal on TUF 18 has damaged her image, but few have been as vocal about the UFC women's bantamweight champ as Team Tate's Julianna Pena.
A teammate of Rousey's rival and opposing coach Miesha Tate prior to the filming of TUF 18, Pena went on to win the competition by defeating Team Rousey's Jessica Rakoczy at the finale. Following the bout, Pena clarified her past remarks on Rousey's character to FOX Sports, reiterating her disdain.
"The point I was trying to draw there is she has her nose in the air and she acts like she's better than everyone else," Pena said. "She went on the show saying she's being Team Real Mean against Team Fake Nice. If you're so real why didn't she tell me to my face that I didn't deserve to breathe the same air as Shayna Baszler, instead of saying it on camera behind my back? It's her arrogance, it's the way she holds herself is the point I was trying to make. It's the way she acts."
Pena defeated Rakoczy by first-round TKO, becoming the first-ever women's TUF champion and improving her pro record to 5-2.
- UFC president Dana White revealed at last night's post-fight press conference that the TUF 18 Finale pulled in an attendance of 4,346 with a live gate of $322,742.50.
The bout featured Diaz vs. Maynard, Pena vs. Rakoczy, as well as the men's TUF final between Chris Holdsworth and David Grant, which Holdsworth won.
The Nevada State Athletic Commission is expected to confirm those numbers next week.
