– MMAJunkie has passed on the performance bonuses from last night’s UFC Fight Night 33 event, which were worth $50,000 apiece.
Predictably, Hunt and Silva took home the Fight of the Night award for their historic five-rounder. In the end, the bout was scored a majority draw, which is fitting, as neither man deserved to go home with a loss.
Mauricio “Shogun” Rua earned the Knockout of the Night after starching James Te Huna in the opening round of their light heavyweight contest.
No Submission of the Night was awarded, as their were no submissions on the card. UFN 33 took place at the Brisbane Entertainment Centre in Brisbane, Australia.
– It looks like Daniel Cormier will be making his long-awaited light heavyweight debut early next year against his FOX Sports broadcast colleague Rashad Evans.
Evans revealed during the UFN 33 pre-fight show that he and Cormier will be squaring off in the main event of UFC 170, which takes place on February 22 in Las Vegas; the bout will be a five-rounder.
A former title holder and recent title challenger, Evans has rebounded recently from a loss to Antonio Rogerio Nogueira with back-to-back wins over Dan Henderson and Chael Sonnen. Cormier, an Olympic wrestler, has remained undefeated since making the move to the UFC, having taken out both Roy Nelson and Frank Mir in heavyweight bouts.
