Dana White Talks Possibility Of Brock Lesnar Returning To UFC, If He Wants To Fight Again
These Brock Lesnar rumors just won't quit. Following UFC Fight Night 35 last night, UFC president Dana White addressed again the persistent rumor that Lesnar is looking to make a comeback in MMA.
"Do we talk? Yeah. Me and Brock talk," White told gathered media when asked if he's reentered talks with the professional wrestler. "I said recently, Brock feels like he has some regrets with MMA because he wasn't healthy, because he was going through those stomach problems the whole time that he was here. He thinks a Brock Lesnar that was 100 percent could've done much better. ... It was fun having Brock here."
Now 36-years-old, Lesnar debuted in the UFC in 2008 with only one MMA bout to his credit. After losing to Frank Mir, Lesnar went on to capture the heavyweight title from Randy Couture. After defending his belt and avenging his loss to Mir, Lesnar was indefinitely sidelined with a life-threatening case of diverticulitis. Though he would narrowly defeat Shane Carwin in his return, Lesnar would continue to battle diverticulitis until his retirement, which he announced after losing two straight to Cain Velasquez and Alistair Overeem. Considering his early success and impressive athleticism, White believes it's an intriguing scenario to imagine what Lesnar could've accomplished had he never been struck with the disease.
"He became the UFC champion with diverticulitis. What would he have done without it," White asked. "From the first day he fought in the UFC until his last fight, he was suffering from it. He never felt right and just didn't know why, and then it really hit him."
As to whether or not we'll ever actually see Lesnar in the Octagon again, White maintains that it's "definitely a possibility."
Lesnar last appeared in the cage in late 2011, when he was TKOed by Overeem in the first round.
