Cyborg Coming After Ronda Rousey, Rousey Responds, Rousey - McMann Fight Highlights
- UFC Women's Bantamweight Champion Ronda Rousey needed just 66 seconds to dispatch fellow Olympian Sara McMann with a knee to the liver at UFC 170 last night at the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas, Nevada. You can check out highlights from the fight in the video above. Full UFC 170 results are here.
- As for what's next for Rousey, she stated at the UFC 170 post-fight press conference that Cat Zingano deserved the next shot at her title. Zingano was originally scheduled to face Rousey last December, however was replaced by Miesha Tate after she suffered a knee injury. UFC President Dana White agreed that Zingano was next in line.
- Former Strikeforce Women's Featherweight Champion Cristiane "Cyborg" Justino released a statement to Inside MMA this past Friday and revealed that she would be dropping to 135 pounds so that she can face Rousey. She said that she will retire Rousey like she did to Gina Carano, and plans to win the Invicta 135 Championship and then face Rousey in December.
"I will still listen to my doctor's advice and fight no more than three times at 135: first to win the Invicta belt, the second time to kick your ass and the third time to kick your ass again so that the world can see it wasn't luck," Cyborg stated. "You can even have me tested every week up to the fight. That way you will not have an excuse after I kick your ass."
After Rousey's victory last night, Cyborg tweeted, "I'm glad Ronda Rousey won... Now I can kick her ass in December ? make it happen daddy [Dana White]."
- Rousey noted to FOX Sports that she was interested in a fight with Cyborg, stating, "I'm not going anywhere – she knows where I'm at."
- Dana White stated at last night's post-fight press conference that he would be interested in putting together a Cyborg – Rousey fight if Cyborg were to make the weight and fight a couple of times at 135.
"First, we'd have to come to a deal," Dana said. "She'd have to fight a couple of times at 135 somewhere else. If she's healthy, maybe we can do it."
