GSP On Spat With Dana White & If He Has Talked To Him, If He Fought Anyone On PEDs, Drugs In MMA

Former UFC welterweight champion Georges St-Pierre – one of MMA's biggest stars – ruffled a lot of feathers when he announced his indefinite leave from the sport and started speaking out against performance enhancing drugs. Most notably, GSP found himself on the wrong side of UFC president Dana White, who launched one of his characteristic rants in St-Pierre's direction when he started going against the company line. During a recent appearance on TSN's 'Off the Record' (video above), GSP talked about drawing White's ire and elaborated his stance against PEDs.

"I talked to Lorenzo (Fertitta); Lorenzo's the boss," St-Pierre said when asked if he and White have spoken since things blew up between them. "Dana – you have to understand – I'm not afraid, but I'm not angry either at Dana, because Dana is the promoter. He said stuff, but I don't take it personal, the stuff he said. Dana is a business guy, he's a promoter and it's his role as a businessman, he wants to make a rematch because it's gonna attract a lot of people – that's his role. He doesn't care if you like it, or love it, or hate it – he wants you to tune in. That's the main role of Dana White."

In addition to explaining why he harbors no ill will towards White, GSP explained why you won't be hearing him call out any fighters he suspects to be on PEDs anytime soon. Seeing the problem of performance enhancing drugs as a systemic one, St-Pierre intends to take on the system that allows such abuses to proliferate.

"I cannot answer this question, but there's a lot of people on drugs," he said when asked to name previous opponents who he's suspected to have been on PEDs. "I've never been sure a hundred percent. The reason why I don't want to accuse any individual, the reason is, if you accuse any one individual, twenty others will arrive. What I want to attack, I want to attack the system, I don't want to attack the individual. People have to understand, I don't want to attack the UFC. I'm one of the guys that stands for the sport, stands for the UFC. I want to do that to help the brand, help the sport. I'm one of the guys that fights for the legitimacy of my sport.

"The reason why I want to do this is because, I think right now, [PEDs] are a big problem," he continued. "When I came out publicly with this, I got so many text messages from guys that are afraid to speak – not even just fighters, reporters that are afraid to lose their credentials. But they tell me, 'You're doing the right thing, we support you.' I had a talk with Lorenzo, and I think it's gonna be a good thing and there's gonna be a lot of change and it's gonna be all good for the sport. I think it's the next step for us to reach even more people, to be even more legitimate."

GSP last appeared in action in November of 2013, where he earned a controversial decision win over Johny Hendricks.
