Renan Barao Stops Urijah Faber In Controversial Championship Rematch, Fight Highlights (Video)

On 49 days notice, Urijah Faber stepped in to take on the UFC's bantamweight champion Renan Barao. It was a rematch from their first encounter in 2012. Barao left champ both times, but the most recent fight had its controversy.

Barao had rocked Faber twice in the opening round of UFC 169. The second time Faber was dropped, Barao mounted the challenger and land several shots. Veteran referee Herb Dean told Faber to work and he gave a thumbs up to let the official know he was still in there. It didn't matter as Dean saw enough and Barao retained. Faber didn't agree with the call, but had nothing negative to saw about Dean or Barao after the fight.

Barao was expected to meet Dominick Cruz for the belt on the card. Cruz was stripped of the belt after injuries kept him from competition for the last two years. Barao is now 32-1 with the sole defeat coming from his debut a decade ago.

Faber had the best year of his career in 2013, going 4-0 with three submission wins. He's 30-7 with defeats coming from just champions.
