Chael Sonnen - Wanderlei Silva Moved Again, Bruce Lee In UFC Game, Dos Santos - Stipe Miocic Update
- Known as one of the legends of MMA, gaming fans will be able to play as Bruce Lee inside the Octagon beginning in June. Lee was selected as a special in-game character for "EA Sports: UFC," which is set for release on Xbox and Playstation 4 June 17.
To play as Lee, who you can see in the game in the video above, you will need to either defeat career mode on pro difficulty or purchase him as a special one-day player.
"There's no debate. Bruce Lee is the father of mixed martial arts," UFC president Dana White said. "He believed not one style of fighting was the best and that you had to have a little piece of everything to be a complete fighter. He was proven right when the first UFC event took place in 1993."
The game features all the current UFC stars, including Cain Velasquez, Jon Jones, Ronda Rousey, Anthony Pettis, Chris Weidman, Demetrious Johnson and Jose Aldo.
- Well, maybe Wanderlei Silva will get his wish after all. Reports from Yahoo! Sports have confirmed that the planned May fight between Silva and Chael Sonnen is being moved again, this time to UFC 175 and July.
Silva and Sonnen were expected to be the main event for The Ultimate Fighter Brazil 3 Finale from Sao Paulo. Sonnen previously stated that he asked for the bout to be moved to Brazil from Las Vegas, to avoid giving Silva a "hometown advantage."
Issues between the sides, and between the UFC and Brazilian officials, kept the fight from being formally signed for weeks. The season of TUF is currently airing on UFC Fight Pass and was filmed weeks ago.
UFC 175 is set to feature UFC middleweight champion Chris Weidman against Lyoto Machida. Silva-Sonnen would take the role of co-main event if signed.
- And with the move of Silva-Sonnen to another card, the new TUF Brazil 3 Finale main event will be Junior dos Santos vs. Stipe Miocic. That fight was expected to be the co-main event for UFC 173 in May.
Dos Santos (16-3), a Brazilian native, will be competing in his home country for the first time since 2008 when he defeated Geronimo dos Santos via knockout in 44 seconds. After that, he debuted with the UFC and has not returned to compete. Miocic (11-1) is coming off back-to-back decisions over Gabriel Gonzaga and Roy Nelson. This will mark his first fight in Brazil.
The same Yahoo! Sports report stated that UFC officials are still working on completing UFC 173's lineup.
