Phil Davis Thinks Jon Jones Might Still Pull Out, Weidman Surgery Update, Anderson Silva A Cop?

- Jon Jones is scheduled to defend his UFC light heavyweight title later this month at UFC 172 against Glover Teixeira. The man set to compete in the co-main event that night, Phil Davis, still believes "Bones" will find a way to remove himself from the fight.

Davis who is lined up with a returning Anthony Johnson on the April 26 card from Baltimore, told MMAjunkie.com recently that it isn't too late for Jones to pull out.

"He may not fight at UFC 172," the ex-Penn State University wrestling standout said. "It's not too late for him to back out of this one. It's happened before. If he happens to back out of this fight for whatever reason, I'm willing to take on Glover Teixeira for an interim championship."

Davis (12-1) was referring to the Jones-Teixeira contest being scheduled a few times before things were officially locked down for Baltimore. The only other time Jones (19-1) turned down a fight was when he was presented Chael Sonnen on short notice after an injury to Dan Henderson, which caused the complete cancellation of a pay-per-view.

- Former UFC middleweight champion Anderson Silva has ruled 2014 out for a return to the Octagon. But he's still training and even going to school. Silva told a Brazilian news outlet that he is taking classes to become an official police officer.

"I train every morning, take my kids to school and go to police school," Silva said. "I'm studying at the Los Angeles School Police Department. I'm studying to become a police officer. It's a personal wish, something that will make my uncle happy. My brothers are police officers, my nephews; it's a family thing."

Silva's uncle raised him in Brazil and he looks up to him as a father figure. "The Spider" did say he has no plans to actually enlist in the police force after his MMA career is complete.

Silva suffered a broken leg last December in a loss to Chris Weidman for the UFC middleweight title. He is 33-6 and has stated plans to return to the Octagon in 2015.

- Speaking of Weidman, he is also working his way back to action after undergoing double-knee surgery late Tuesday night. The UFC champion was scheduled to meet Lyoto Machida in May, but the bout has been pushed back to July and UFC 175.

"Thanks for all the prayers and well wishes," Weidman posted on Instagram, along with a photo of himself in the hospital bed after surgery. "Surgery was a success."

Weidman will have roughly 14 weeks to recovery and train to meet Machida in July. He was originally scheduled to face Vitor Belfort, but the TRT ban in Nevada and by the UFC forced officials to remove Belfort from the equation for the time being.
