Daniel Cormier After UFC 173 Win: Jon Jones Can't Run Away From Me Forever

Daniel Cormier continues to campaign for a light heavyweight title shot with Jon Jones and his chances improved with a third round rear naked choke submission over veteran Dan Henderson. They served as the co-main event of UFC 173, which saw Cormier literally toss Henderson around with ease and never let the fight leave the canvas.

"Jon Jones you can't run away from me forever," said Cormier post-fight. "You better hurry because I'm only getting better. Nobody can wrestle me. If I decide to take Jon Jones down 100 times, I will take him down 100 times. This is my Octagon, I'm the man."

The UFC 173 win makes Cormier a perfect 15-0 with the last four fights coming out of the UFC. In his light heavyweight debut, Cormier stopped Patrick Cummins in just over a minute. Before joining the UFC, Cormier was the Strikeforce heavyweight grand prix champion.

Henderson was looking to get back in the title picture after stopping Maurício Rua at UFC Fight Night 38 in late March. The 43-year-old Henderson has three fights left on his new contract.

Jones is rumored to defend his title at UFC 177 in August. Those details haven't been confirmed. He will take on Alexander Gustafsson in a rematch from last year's Fight of the Year at UFC 165.
