Alberto Del Rio Expects CM Punk To Return To WWE, Talks Money In The Bank, Recent WWE Cuts & More

The WWE World Heavyweight Championship will be at stake this Sunday at Money in the Bank as Alberto Del Rio, Bray Wyatt, Cesaro, John Cena, Kane, Randy Orton, Roman Reigns and Sheamus vie for the vacated championship in a Ladder Match. One of the bout's participants, Del Rio, spoke to DigitalSpy.com to promote the match and pay-per-view event.

"I've won that match before. I'm a former Money in the Bank winner and I'm the one that can bring more to the table," Del Rio says of his chances of winning the bout.

Although the stakes of the Ladder Match are high, Del Rio does not enjoying competing in them.

"I don't really enjoy them because they're painful!" said Del Rio. "But it's part of the game, and in this case, if you want to be WWE World Heavyweight Champion you have to accept the challenge and prepare yourself and your body for a lot of pain on Sunday."

One WWE Superstar who will not being competing in the WWE World Heavyweight Championship Ladder Match is CM Punk, who has been absent from the squared circle since January?during a conference call to WWE investors on Feb. 20, Vince McMahon said Punk was "taking a sabbatical". Del Rio was asked whether Punk will be returning any time soon.

"Yeah, of course. He'll be back soon. I don't know when, but he'll back," remarked Del Rio.

Elsewhere in the interview, Del Rio was asked about WWE recently releasing a number of Superstars.

"Wrestling is no different from any other job – you need to bring your best every single day because there's people behind you trying to take your job. You can see that everywhere, not only in wrestling," Del Rio said. "That's the reason you have to be in shape all the time, you have to try to bring something different every time you're in the ring and you need to make yourself and your opponent good every single time, so you can keep up with the game."

Del Rio also weighed in on heel wrestlers trying to appear cool, Brock Lesnar, Batista, whether he's interested in being a 'Paul Heyman Guy', and more. The full interview is available here.
