Drew McIntrye Talks Working With Vince, Being "The Chosen One," Why He Lost His Push

Former WWE superstar Drew McIntyre was a recent guest on Chris Jericho's "Talk Is Jericho" podcast, and the two wrestlers spoke about the recently released wrestler's time with WWE. McIntyre said he had no idea Vince McMahon was going to call him "The Chosen One," and he was told to wait for the boss to talk before taking the mic and cutting a promo.

He also touched base on McMahon's "Promo Class," which is a small group of people being taught by McMahon on how to talk. McIntyre said the classes were nerve-wracking, because you had one minute to pick a topic and talk about it. He did say it was a great experience, though, as well as talking with McMahon over the years and getting to know him.

McIntyre said he was feuding with R-Truth around that time, and the latter was getting a big push.

"It was shocking," McIntyre said. "He was doing his rap gimmick?it was actually Shawn Michaels' idea."

He did say Michaels was extremely helpful in his early days, and McIntyre wish he had him around afterwards.

The former superstar said he lost his push because of occurrences outside of the ring, however, he said they were things blown out of proportion and weren't even picked up by major news and gossip outlets. Issues revolved around his ex-wife as well, who is Taryn Terrell from TNA Wrestling, but McIntyre said there was a lot that was exaggerated.

McIntyre also said that when his mother passed away a few years ago, he completely lost it, and said that could have been a factor, too, since he was really difficult person to deal with.
