Fighter Snaps Back At UFC After Release, UFC Fighter Signs New Deal, Latest UFC 174 Embedded
- As we prepare for tonight's UFC 174 card, which Wrestling Inc. will have complete coverage on, check out episode four in the UFC 174: Embedded video blog series above. The video blog shows UFC president Dana White checking out the show opener before jumping on a plane and taking off for Vancouver.
We also see Tyron Woodley and his teammate discussing the upcoming fight with Rory MacDonald, who is shown himself training with Georges St-Pierre.
UFC flyweight champion Demetrious Johnson also does his best Terry Crews impersonation from the "Old Spice" commercials, which is quite the sight to see.
- It didn't take Jason High long to go on the offensive against the UFC after his release. High was cut after shoving a referee following his loss at UFC Fight Night 42 to Rafael dos Anjos. On Twitter, High let his true feelings fly regarding the matter.
"Push steroids, not referees," he wrote, in reference to Chael Sonnen and his recent retirement decision after a failed drug test. "IT WAS AN ACCIDENT! Oh well....."
Sonnen was suspended by the Nevada Athletic Commission after results found two banned substances in his system. Wanderlei Silva, Vitor Belfort and several other fighters have also tested positive or declined to take tests, and remain on the active roster.
- Mark Munoz will return to the Octagon once his knee completely heals. Munoz, who is coming off back-to-back first round losses to Lyoto Machida and Gegard Mousasi, resigned with the promotion recently.
"Just signed a 4-fight deal with the UFC," Munoz posted on Instagram, along with a picture of his contract signing.
The fighter suffered a knee injury in the loss to Mousasi and was subsequently removed from the official UFC rankings due to both the injury and his contract expiring. No date has been set for his return to the Octagon.
