- Former UFC bantamweight champion Dominick Cruz has a target date for his return in mind. Cruz, who has been out of action for two years, had his manager tell "UFC Tonight" he is interested in fighting in late August or September.
"The Dominator" has been forced to undergo two knee surgeries and recover from a groin injury over the past several months. He was stripped of the bantamweight title earlier this year when he was unable to face then-interim champion Renan Barao.
As for an opponent, Cruz's manager stated Takeya Mizugaki as a possible opponent. Mizugaki is also recovering from surgery on his ear, but his team believes September will be the right time for his return.
Cruz himself, during the weigh-in show for UFC Fight Night 44, confirmed talks for the bout are in place, but nothing has been signed.
- Dan Henderson is denying a report by his own manager that stated a return to middleweight was in the cards. Henderson, a former Strikeforce 185-pound champion, is coming off a submission loss to Daniel Cormier recently.
"It's funny how rumors get started," Henderson posted on Twitter. "If you have read that I will be returning to middleweight. Not true, but always a possibility."
The 43-year-old Henderson (30-12) has won seven of 13 fights inside the Octagon. He fought at 185 pounds during a previous stint with the UFC, defeating Michael Bisping, before moving to Strikeforce.
