Vitor Belfort Admits To Failing Surprise Drug Test, UFC Releases Statement

Vitor Belfort has come clean just a few days before he steps in front of the executive board of the Nevada Athletic Commission in hopes of obtaining his fight license. Earlier this year, Belfort was given a surprise drug test by the NAC, and only recently were the results released.

Belfort will need to get the approval of the board later this month for his fight license. If granted, "The Phenom" will be facing Chael Sonnen at UFC 175 with his No. 1 contender spot on the line.

"As I always said I have nothing to hide from anyone," Belfort posted, along with the complete message containing details about his failed drug test, which you can view below. "I am releasing my statement along with all my privates test results. Looking forward to get my license in Nevada and fight in July."

The UFC issued a statement regarding Belfort's remarks, saying, "The UFC organization supports Vitor Belfort's application for a license to compete in Nevada, and we respect the Nevada Athletic Commission and its licensing process. Pending Commission approval, we look forward to a great fight between Vitor Belfort and Chael Sonnen at UFC 175 on July 5."

Belfort explained that his levels of testosterone were elevated in February when given the test. However, he has since been tested numerous times, with the levels being within therapeutic range. The UFC and NAC have both banned the use of TRT since the testing.
