With the win, Weidman added another former champion to his list of victories. Last year, he defeated Anderson Silva – a close friend and training partner of Machida – twice.

- Ronda Rousey had a spectacular night at UFC 175, destroying Alexis Davis in just a matter of moments. Rousey, the female bantamweight champion, connected with one shot, tossed Davis to the canvas and unloaded, ending the co-main event in 16 seconds.

"I was envisioning a first exchange knockout, and I just kept thinking about it. I planned for the first two punches, but after that, no. She was out with the first overhand right and she was falling into me," said Rousey, on the post-fight show on FOX Sports 1. "I don't have the confidence to do the walkaway knockout. I didn't want to let her recover and wake back up. I was being thorough. I feel very satisfied."

Despite the win, Rousey did suffer an injury, as a cyst exploded on her right hand, leaving her with stitches. She also mentioned the need to have her knee looked at – also an old injury that flared up.

- UFC president Dana White was overly impressed by Ronda Rousey, telling the FOX Sports 1 post-fight show that she informed him before the contest something special was going to happen. Rousey defeated Alexis Davis in 16 seconds via knockout to remain bantamweight champion.

"It was the second fastest, but the things that happened during the fight make it the most dominant title defense ever," White said. "Alexis has twice as many fights as Ronda, is legit and she was destroyed. Ronda texted me and told me she's going to blow me away tonight. She keeps getting better and better."

UFC production staff asked Joe Rogan to mention Rousey returning at UFC 176 in August to fight again, and White said that wouldn't be happening. Rousey also has a hand and knee injury to take care of first.
