On this date in wrestling history in 1999, "Stone Cold" Steve Austin defeated The Undertaker in a "First Blood" match for the WWF title. That match took place at WWF's Fully Loaded show, which was held in Buffalo, New York. Neither one of those guys is on tonight's card but hey, we have an entirely new generation of talent to look forward to and we'll likely get a memorable moment or ? at the very least, a noteworthy second or two ? out of what's on tap for this evening.

The Usos vs. RybAxel

After the opening titles roll, The Usos work up the crowd and bounce out to the ring to battle RybAxel. Cole reminds us that the RybAxel guys are on a roll and JBL agrees by pretty much saying the same thing. Cole says that RybAxel might be in the hunt for a shot at the titles somewhere down the road. Good luck with that, fellas. As the match starts, JBL lays it on thick by saying the Usos may be the best team of their generation. Ryback and Axel get the chance to work on Jimmy a little and he ends up on the floor outside the ring where Ryback runs over him like a freight train. Looks like a good time to watch some commercials.

After a scintillating commercial for Saturday Night's Main Event on demand via WWE Network, we're back in business as the RybAxel guys are still solidly in control of this one. Axel gets a two-count but can't seal the deal. Ryback tries too but it's still on. Jimmy eventually hits Ryback in the head with a high-spin-kick thing and tags in Jey. Jey fires up the crowd, hits Axel with his posterior a la Rikishi, hits a Samoan drop and goes for the pin but he's foiled by Ryback. Ryback ends up on the floor and we get one of those "Uso crazy!" exclamations that Cole is contractually obligated to make every time the boys are in the ring. As both Usos are on the floor outside the ring, Axel gets confusted and grabs the "fresher" Jimmy Uso to toss back in the ring instead of Jey, who is legal. Looks like the ref didn't catch it, either. It's the old Bella Twins trickery at work, folks. Jimmy pins Axel with a roll up and it's all over.

Result: The Usos defeat RybAxel via pinfall.

Cole and JBL revisit Stephanie's arrest and plug Reigns vs. ADR in the main event and then they tell us that "Miz TV" is coming up after these important messages.

Fresh from the break, WWE advises us that Battleground was the most "socially active" of all shows last Sunday. Forget buyrates, folks; social media is all that matters these days. Tout is a good example of that, except that Tout doesn't matter any more, either. Let's watch some "Miz TV"?

Miz gives an "acceptance speech" and introduces his parents, finally giving the guys on the comment boards a new picture of the senior Mizanin to use as an avatar. Miz asks his mom who her favorite WWE superstar is and she gives the perfect deadpan answer: "Roman Reigns." That answer got a bigger pop than RybAxel's entrance theme, folks. Mizaninin's self-aggrandizing monologue continues until Bo Dallas emerges, prompting most of the live crowd to wonder who they'll boo more. Dallas and Miz make nice and fawn over each other briefly and then Dolph Ziggler's theme breaks up the party. Ziggler gives Miz some props but there's clearly some hostility there, especially given how Miz won the match. Ziggler takes a few verbal shots at Miz and Dallas and Dallas tries to smooth things out but Ziggy pushes him away and goes after Miz. Dallas hits Ziggler from behind and knocks him out of the ring as Miz stands to the side looking pensive. Looks like a new, multifaceted feud in the works.

Cole and JBL hype the Cesaro/Ambrose No DQ match for tonight and we have commercial sign.

Dolph Ziggler vs. The Miz

The set of "Miz TV" is cleared on the break to make way for an "impromptu" match between Dallas and Ziggler. After some back and forth, Ziggler lands a tremendous DDT but only garners a two-count. During a brief spot outside the ring Ziggler teases a big ol' kick to the Miz, who hides behind the announcers' desk to protect "the moneymaker." When he gets back in the ring, Ziggler is caught off guard by Dallas who wins with a roll up.

Result: Bo Dallas defeats Dolph Ziggler via pinfall.

Post-match, Ziggler kicks the holy bejeezus out of Dallas and then Miz knocks Ziggler into the ringpost and heads up the ramp like a boss.

Backstage, Roman Reigns cuts a promo in which he shrugs off everyone in WWE's top tier. He guarantees victory over Del Rio later tonight.

Ambrose and Cesaro are shown walking to the ring and we have commercial sign in 3?2?1?

Dean Ambrose vs. Cesaro

Ambrose and Cesaro make their respective entrances for a promising No DQ match. Amberose is way intense, snarling "Who sent you out here?" to Cesaro. After he puts Cesaro down, Dean goes outside of the ring to pull some weapons out from under the apron. He gets a couple of kendo sticks and about five thousand folding chairs out before heading back into the ring to re-join the fray but Cesaro is waiting with a big boot which he delivers to Ambrose with authority. After whole lot of brawling outside, Ambrose gets the ring bell and crowns his opponent with it. Cesaro gets back up quickly, though, and both guys have kendo sticks in hand, preparing to go at it like a pair of Jedi Knights. Cesaro lands the first blow and Ambrose hits the floor. Looks like it's time for another paid advertisement.

As the action resumes, Cesaro is showing all kinds of intensity. Ambrose eats a kendo stick, a couple of chairs and a big batch of smack talk. Cesaro signals that he's ready to put Dean away but Ambrose has some gas left in the tank. These guys are hitting each other pretty hard. Ambrose gets a near fall and the crowd is on his side but Cesaro isn't ready to give up the ghost. The guys tease a nasty looking chair spot and they step away from it a bit but Cesaro ends up getting suplexed on to a standing chair anyway and it's hella painful to watch. Just insane. It's not only amazing that Cesaro can still stand up after that but that he can keep working all of the crazy, tough spots in this one. The men end up outside a short time later and Ambrose gets out another giant stack of chairs. At this point, you have to wonder if he's going to reenact the entire "garden party" scene from the original version of The Manchurian Candidate. Before he can hit the coup de grace, Set Rollins interferes, attacking Ambrose but Dean gives it all back and then some. Cesaro ends up dropping Cesaro into the sea of chairs in the ring and it seems like he has victory in hand but Ambrose kicks out and just a moment later, he gets the pin on Cesaro with a rollup.

Result: Dean Ambrose defeats Cesaro via pinfall.

After the match, Rollins gets back in the ring and picks apart Ambrose with some help by Cesaro. It's a pretty ugly scene that's punctuated with a hellacious curb stomp. Phew. Let's all catch our breath by reviewing the AJ/Paige feud and watching some commercials. See y'all on the other side?

Paige vs. Naomi

Naomi kicks off this next stretch and we're treated to a quick recap of her feud with Cameron. Then Paige comes out, stll skipping like AJ. On the mic, Paige tells everyone that she and AJ are still friends. Not bloody likely. The bell rings but the ladies never get busy because Cameron emerges from backstage and distracts Naomi, allowing Paige to lock in a submission move, Naomi taps out and Paige skips away once again.

Result: Paige defeats Naomi via submission.

After the match Cameron and Naomi mix it up and Cameron gets the better of her former BFF. JBL says, "Funk is on a roll." No, really.

The Rhodes brothers do another kooky promo backstage and we head back into the land of coming attractions and public service announcements.

Okay, the blipverts are over and the Orlando crowd seems underwhelmed by R-Truth's rap stylings. But don't worry too much because the Wyatts are here and business is about to pick up. The dudes in the truck roll footage of the Wyatt guys beating up Chris Jericho. Back in Orlando, the Wyatts eventually make it to the ring area at which time we learn that Bray will take on the former Mr. Killings.

Bray Wyatt vs. R-Truth

The bell rings and Truth appears to have a fighting chance for a second or two. Bray gains control but R-Truth shows some more moves and a flash of charisma. It's over quickly, though, as Bray overwhelms Truth by virtue of sheer brutality and naked aggression. Sister Abigail signals the end of this one.

Result: Bray Wyatt defeats R-Truth via pinfall.

After the bell, the Wyatts regroup in the ring and Bray taunts Jericho aloud as R-Truth lays at their filthy, dirty feet. Bray really needs to get that eye checked. Looks nasty.

After the commercial, we'll see a recap of Stephanie's arrest. Because that's what's up, R-Truth.

As promised, we get the whole Brie/Steph dog and pony show, including Stephanie's arrest. Cole tells us that Stephanie was released around4 AM and that she was charged with "resisting arrest and with uh, well, uh?battery." JBL predicts "the wrath of the McMahons" on this Monday's Raw. Break time as the main event is within sight.

Roman Reigns vs. Alberto Del Rio

One more recap of how the booking unfolded for SummerSlam's main event and we're totally ready to see Reigns and ADR throw down. After both men are in the ring, the bell sounds get down to brass tacks. Reigns has the momentum heading into this one but Cole runs down his credentials, implying that this one is ADR's match to lose. Del Rio goes for his arm-breaker submission move but Reigns blocks it, Del Rio slides out and we abruptly end up in a mess of commercials.

After the ads, we return to the land of wrestling and see that ADR is all over Reigns. Reigns gets stomped on and then outside of the ring, Del Rio slaps Reigns' hand into the ring steps over and over again. Roman's arm flaps around like Strech Armstrong fresh out of the microwave. They make it back into the ting and fight some more and Del Rio applies the cross arm-breaker while hanging from the rope, which looks way cool. But ADR only has until the five-count because he's on the rope. ADR breaks the hold and Reigns totally knocks his block off and Del Rio hits the floor. They brawl outside the ring and ADR takes a real drubbing. They climb back in and Reigns steps up his game, halted briefly by some offense and clever moves from ADR. Del Rio gets Roman on the "tree of woe" and kicks at him for a spell but Reigns sits up in time to avoid a power move from Del Rio. A few moments later Reigns clocks ADR with the Superman punch and follows it with a thunderous spear and the pin.

Result: Roman Reigns defeats Alberto Del Rio via pinfall.

The crowd celebrates and we fade to black and another SmackDown is in the books.
