Anderson Silva Sends Message To Injured NBA Player, Several New UFC Fight Announcements

- The UFC's planned pay-per-view for Brazil, UFC 179, now has a co-main event. Light heavyweights Phil Davis and Glover Teixeira will square off on October 25 from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. The headline fight that night pits featherweight champion Jose Aldo against Chad Mendes.

Both Davis (12-2) and Teixeira (22-3) are coming off decision losses. Davis, a former Penn State University standout, was topped by Anthony Johnson. On that very same night earlier this year, Teixeira fell to champion Jon Jones.

- UFC Fight Night 50 has two more bouts lined up, as Dustin Kimura meets Ian Entwistle and John Moraga squares off with Justin Scoggins. The card takes place September 5 from Connecticut's Foxwoods Resort Casino.

The Moraga-Scoggins contest will open up the FOX Sports 1 main card. Moraga (14-3) and Scoggins (9-1) are a combined 5-3 in eight Octagon appearances. Moraga lost to division champion Demetrious Johnson earlier this year.

Entwistle (8-2) lost his UFC debut, while Kimura (11-2) has split his four fights. The main event of the card features Ronaldo "Jacare" Souza meeting Gegard Mousasi.

- Former UFC middleweight champion Anderson Silva knows first-hand what Paul George is currently going through. Over the weekend, George, an NBA standout with the Indiana Pacers, suffered a broken leg after landing awkwardly on the court.

Silva, who is scheduled to return this January from a similar injury suffered last December, sent a message to George via social media to offer his thoughts and prayers. "The Spider" will face Nick Diaz in the main event of UFC 183.
