Jon Jones Out, New UFC 178 Main Event Announced
The much-anticipated UFC light heavyweight collision between Jon Jones and Daniel Cormier will have to wait. UFC officials confirmed on Tuesday that Jones has suffered an injury in training and will be out until 2015.
The Jones-Cormier fight for the light heavyweight title was set to take place September 27 at UFC 178, but that card will now receive flyweight champion Demetrious Johnson and Chris Cariaso.
Officials only said that "Bones" suffered a leg injury and will not be able to fight until January. The bout with Cormier will take place January 3 at UFC 182, which also goes down from Las Vegas.
Jones and Cormier were all over the news last week after getting into a heated brawl on stage during a press conference. The two continued to push one another verbally during appearances on ESPN's "SportsCenter" and "FOX Sports Live."
