Dana White Rips Former Bellator Champ And Talks UFC Re-Signing Thiago Silva, UFN Weigh-In Results
- UFC president Dana White has some choice words for Ben Askren during a recent interview on "UFC Tonight." Askren, a former Bellator champ who currently holds the ONE FC welterweight title, has taken plenty of shots at White and his promotion over the years.
"I thought Tito (Ortiz) was the dumbest human being alive," White said, in reference to Askren. "This guy is an absolute moron. He's copying everything that Tito does. You get a lot of attention if you talk about the UFC. If he's happy fighting in Asia, than what's he talking about me for?"
Askren appeared on "Inside MMA" and was cut off while speaking after going on a tirade concerning White and his treatment of fighters, which you can see in the video above. When his contract with Bellator expired, Askren talked with the UFC about signing, but a deal was never met.
- Thiago Silva deserves a second chance. That's what UFC president Dana White believes. Despite what went down earlier this year involving Silva and his ex-wife, the UFC boss resigned the welterweight when all charges were dropped.
With much of the sports world talking about the NFL and what happened involving now-former standout running back Ray Rice, White used that as an example in explaining why he elected to bring Silva back.
"When I said he'd never work in the UFC again, the SWAT team was surrounding his house, and he looked like he was in trouble. The guy hasn't been charged with anything. There are two sides to this story. Since it happened, he's said it's not true. His manager and he have told us what's happened. But if you believe in the legal process in the United States, he was put through it and was charged with nothing in the end. There's no proof or evidence that he did anything wrong. If there was a tape that popped up like Ray Rice, that would be a different story."
- UFC Fight Night 51 weigh-ins took place earlier today from Brazil. Main event fighters Antonio "Bigfoot" Silva and Andrei Arlovski each came in under the 265-pound limit for their heavyweight fight.
In fact, all 11 planned fights went down without an incident, as each fighter successfully weighed in. The entire card streams live Saturday night on UFC Fight Pass, and complete weigh-in results are below:
