The Rock Confirms Major DC Comics Movie Role

The Rock confirmed on his Twitter that he will be playing Black Adam, Shazam's nemesis, in the upcoming DC Comics Shazam movie. The character is said to be more of an anti-hero than a villain. Here is a description of the character from the DC Comics database:

Black Adam is a super-villain and sometimes anti-hero originally written as the evil counterpart to Captain Marvel, an ancient Egyptian prince who was given incredible powers by the wizard Shazam and survived into the modern era. His legacy would eventually expand to include the Black Marvel Family involving his wife Isis and her brother Osiris protecting their native land of Kahndaq. He has been a member of the Justice Society, Injustice Society, Secret Society of Super-Villains, Suicide Squad and Monster Society of Evil. Black Adam was created by Otto Binder and C.C. Beck, first appearing in Marvel Family #1. (1945)

Variety reports that Darren Lemke will pen the script, with Hiram Garcia producing.
