The card – and "Countdown" itself – features a main event between Ronaldo "Jacare" Souza and Gegard Mousasi in a five-round middleweight battle. Also, Alistair Overeem takes on Ben Rothwell in the co-main event.

- The official UFC rankings were released earlier this week after UFC 177 and featured some interesting movements among them. Ronda Rousey, the female bantamweight champion, and Demetrious Johnson, the flyweight titleholder, each moved up past Renan Barao.

Rousey is now eighth overall on the pound-for-pound Top-15, while Johnson is tied with Chris Weidman – the middleweight champion – for fourth. Joe Soto, who replaced Barao and fought T.J. Dillashaw for the bantamweight title, debuted in the Top-15 for his division.

- Anthony Johnson had some choice words for Alistair Overeem recently, taking to Twitter to call out the former Strikeforce heavyweight champion. Overeem is set for action Friday night at UFC Fight Night 50 against Ben Rothwell.

"Rumble" and Overeem were once teammates with the Blackzilians camp, but "The Reem" has since moved to Jackson-Winkeljohn MMA in New Mexico. He was the fighter Jon Jones was grappling with when the UFC light heavyweight champion suffered a knee injury that resulted in surgery.

Along with that happening, Johnson also called out Overeem for "ducking" a previously planned fight with Junior dos Santos. Check out the tweet Johnson posted on his page recently:
