Top UFC Star Recently Arrested

After coming out of retirement and signing on to face Anderson Silva, it seemed as if news regarding Nick Diaz would slow down for a while. Not the case, as news broke this week that Diaz had been arrested for a slew of charges.

Diaz was picked up on September 2 at about 2:20 a.m. for driving under the influence of alcohol, obstructing a police officer, destruction of evidence, and driving with a suspended license in Stockton, California. He will be arraigned in three weeks.

Reportedly, Diaz tried to make himself vomit while using the restroom and waiting to provide a blood or breath sample to test his blood alcohol level. Due to this, Diaz was charged with destruction of evidence and obstruction, as the officers felt he was trying to eliminate alcohol from his body.

The former Strikeforce Welterweight champion was held for six hours and then released. No bail was set for the misdemeanor offense, but Diaz will appear in court before the end of the month.

Diaz was also arrested in November on DUI charges, and missed a subsequent court date in December. A warrant was issued in February, and several delayed court dates followed. After firing his attorney, Diaz failed to show up at a June 16 court date and a bench warrant was issued.

Diaz surrendered to the warrant and was released on bail awaiting a September 25 court date before the most recent arrest.

It doesn't appear as if this situation will affect his planned bout with Anderson Silva. The two are set to square off on January 31 at UFC 183.
