UFC 178 Countdown Video, Cris Cyborg Making Big Change, Roy Nelson On His First Knockout Loss
- "Countdown" returned for UFC 178 over the weekend, helping hype this Saturday's pay-per-view. You can see the segment featuring main event fighters Demetrious Johnson and Chris Cariaso in the video above.
Johnson will be putting his flyweight title on the line against Cariaso from Las Vegas, and Wrestling Inc. will have complete and free main card coverage of all the action.
- Former Strikeforce champion Cris Cyborg's journey to a possible contract with the UFC will take a giant step forward later this year. It was announced on Monday that Cyborg will make her bantamweight debut this December for Invicta FC.
Cyborg, who holds the Invicta FC featherweight title, will be dropping down to 135 pounds for the first time. The bout will take place at Invicta FC 10 on UFC Fight Pass, though no opponent was announced.
There has been plenty of talk of putting Cyborg (12-1) inside the Octagon with UFC champion Ronda Rousey, but the unbeaten Rousey has maintained to plans to change weight class.
- Roy Nelson didn't have much to say after suffering his first Octagon loss via knockout recently to Mark Hunt. "Big Country" posted a simple message on his Facebook page after falling to just 1-3 in his last four fights.
"Just got caught," he wrote. "That's what happens in the (heavyweight) division."
Hunt landed a perfectly-placed strike that floored Nelson in the second round in Japan. The former Ultimate Fighter winner had only been stopped once previously in his career, and that came in 2008 to former UFC heavyweight champion Andrei Arlovski.
