WWE Makes Mistake With New Sting DVD & Blu-Ray

Out today from WWE is The Best of Sting, a DVD and Blu-ray set chronicling the legendary wrestler's entire career from his Mid-South days as part of the Blade-Runners (with Ultimate Warrior) through his last WCW match vs. Ric Flair on the very last episode of WCW Monday Nitro. The video features "more than two dozen matches in total, many never before released on Blu-Ray. This includes a combination of well-known memorable matches, as well as some fairly obscure matches including encounters with Vader, Cactus Jack, Hulk Hogan, and Ric Flair. In addition, packages throughout the title will help tell the story of Sting s career evolution."

The packaging for the DVD and Blu-ray features a noticeable error, at least to hardcore fans of Sting. On the back of the box, there is a photo of the impostor version of Sting.

Here is the original photo, where the character is labeled as NWO Sting.

In September 1996, the nWo put one over on WCW supporters by having Jeff Farmer, who had been wrestling as Cobra, dress as Sting and attack Lex Luger. It later came out that there was a "fake Sting," played by Farmer. In 1997, he traveled back and forth to New Japan Pro Wrestling where he was a part of nWo Japan. That's where the photo comes from.
