Kevin Steen On Meeting Steve Austin, Working At The WWE Performance Center, His Goals, More
- In the videos above and below, WWE NXT star Kevin Steen talks with Jim Varsallone of The Miami Herald. Below are highlights:
* He says the WWE Performance Center is a pro wrestler's dream and unlike anything you've ever seen. He feels very lucky to be there and said, "so far so good."
* Steen confirmed that William Regal saw him at a Pro Wrestling Guerrilla event and got the ball rolling for him to sign with WWE.
* He said Sami Zayn was a big part of his career, and he was a big part of Sami's career, and seeing Sami work his way towards the main roster is inspiring.
* He talked about training at Jacques Rougeau's wrestling school but said Rougeau had little to do with the actual training. A trainer at the school named Eric Mastrocola worked with Steen.
* Steen says he doesn't follow sports. He noted everyone in NXT are big football fans.
* He talked about meeting Steve Austin at an airport in 2005 and said Austin opened his eyes to how important "running his mouth" is. Steen asked Austin for one piece of advice and Austin told him to just run his mouth.
* His parents have been very supportive of his wrestling career and his dad was the first person he called when he signed with WWE. He talked about moving his wife, his son, his daughter, his dog, three cats and all of their belongings to Florida in about 5 days when he signed. His parents made the three-day trip with him in two Uhaul trucks.
* He named his six year old son Owen after Owen Hart, one of Steen's favorite wrestlers.
* Steen said everyone's goals are ending up on RAW or SmackDown or WrestleMania and he's no different. He said it's important to him that he makes his time in NXT count. He wants to make memories and moments that fans will remember.
