Tito Santana Says WWE Missed An Opportunity With "El Matador", Shelly Martinez Performs Risky Spot

- After competing for years in WWE's mid-card, Tito Santana adopted a Spanish bullfighter gimmick in 1991 and the nickname "El Matador." As the character, he most notably faced Shawn Michaels in the opening bout of WrestleMania VIII at the Hoosier Dome in Indianapolis, Indiana. The former Intercontinental Champion offered his thoughts on the persona in the above video interview.

"Vince McMahon asked me if I wanted to become a matador. I went to train in Mexico to become a bull fighter. I wasn't crazy about the gimmick, but they had told me that I was going to be up again in some of the main bouts. I worked hard to master the matador gimmick. They just didn't do much with me. I don't know why, but I think they missed an opportunity there for me to make the matador gimmick work," Santana said.

He continued, "I couldn't understand. I was over with the fans. For them to go somewhere else, to me, it was a missed opportunity."

Santana also spoke on his feud with Rick Martel not coming to a definite conclusion.

- Taking a page out of New Jack's playbook, Shelly Martinez performed a spot during a Hoodslam match over the weekend where she dove off a balcony.
