Welcome to WrestlingINC.com's live coverage and results for Impact Wrestling. Tonight's show was taped a few weeks ago in Bethlehem, PA.
Please spread word of our viewing party and complete results via Facebook and Twitter.
Tonight's show opens with a recap of Roode's missed opportunity at winning the title two weeks ago and a short piece backstage in which he says he's going to make it right. Then we head to the venue for some in-ring action.
Austin Aries walks out to the ring with a mic and says he's earned a shot at any TNA title any time he wants it and then he muses a bit about which title he should go for. Samoa Joe's music hits and the big guy saunters out and grabs his own mic. Joe says he'll make Austin's choice a simple one because AA needs to challenge the best champion in the company and that's him. Aries scoffs a bit and then says it's on and he'll take on Joe for the X-Division title. Huzzah!
Austin Aries vs. Samoa Joe for the X-Division title
They get down to business quickly with Joe playing the role of a power grappler and Aries breaking out some technical moves. Joe knocks Aries down to the mat after some grappling and Aries gets back up to trade blows and chops. Joe puts Aries back down and stands over him, almost suggesting that it's not much of a challenge. He keeps A-Double down for a short stretch, inflicting some damage but Aries keeps coming back. Joe hits a huge chop and dazes Aries, following up with some forearm blows. He can't finish with a muscle buster and Aries tries to land a missile dropkick off the top but nobody's there to receive it. He bounces back from the miss and keeps coming at Joe, eventually working him into position for a short bout of mat work. Aries keeps the heat on as Joe seems to be losing steam. Let's pause it here for some words from our sponsors.
After the break, we find Joe out on the floor and Aries gets fired up to slide out after him but he's met with "a big, nasty knee?of?Samoa Joe" in the words of Taz. Aries is dazed enough for Joe to mount a comeback and while Joe can't hit a powerbomb, he does hit a wicked snap-slam on Aries and follows up with a fear fall. A short time later, Joe gets Aries in a choke hold and Austin gets out with a jawbreaker. Aries gets Joe into his own submission on the mat but there's no tap out to be had. Both guys get back on their feet and Aries tries for a brainbuster but can't deliver. After a good stretch of solid back-and-forth shots and blows, Joe ends up outside and Aries takes him off his feet with a dive outside. They climb back in the ring and Aries hits a missile dropkick but still can't seal the deal. Joe ultimately catches Aries on the mat with the rear naked choke and the challenger eventually taps out.
Result: Samoa Joe retains the X-Division title via submission.
Backstage, EC3 and Spud have a tense encounter and they head for the ring. Commercial sign.
After the commercial, they recap the ladder match from the ongoing tag tournament and Kurt Angle assures us that we'll see the match of the year soon enough.
Inside the venue, an irritated Ethan Carter III chastises Rockstar Spud and says they're not friends. He says that Spud is an employee and he is the employer. EC3 ridicules Spud's life and appearance and announces that the people aren't with Spud but the live crowd responds by chanting Spud's name. Carter keeps up the nastiness by ripping Spud's suit, telling him to cry and then slapping him around. Eric Young's music hits and he heads out to the ring. Young tells Spud not to let himself get pushed around and encourages the little guy to stand up to his bully. Carter clocks Young in mid-sentence and then beats on him until a ref comes out and suddenly the thing turns into a match.
Eric Young vs. Ethan Carter III
After Young shakes off the cobwebs, Carter seems to realize that he's bitten off a little too much in starting this match. EC3 heads outside and Young hits a huge-cross body to take him off his feet. They get back in and Carter slows Young's roll with a sucker punch and takes over, slamming young and working him over. Carter calls for Spud's assistance but Spud is reluctant to get involved. EC3 stays in charge despite some resistance from EY, cinching in a choke hold and maintaining it for a decent stretch. He works it into a kind of modified chin lock and Young just manages to get out of the submission hold with a backdrop suplex. From there, Young gets back on top, ultimately hitting a big elbow off the top. He tries for the pin but Spud grabs Carter's foot and puts it on the rope to break the count. Carter takes Young out with a jawbreaker and then calls for Spud on the apron. As the two argue, Young chucks Carter into Spud and tries to get back on top of things, only to fall victim to a low blow from Carter. Carter lands the "one percenter" and earns the pinfall victory.
Result: Ethan Carter III defeats Eric Young via pinfall
Post-match, EC3 forces Spud to hold his arm up in victory and then shoves the little dude around for good measure.
Following the commercial, Ken Anderson talks to Melendez backstage and tells him to stay strong in the face of TNA's bad guys. We get a recap of the feud between Havok and Gail Kim and it's title time. Well, maybe not...
Havok attacks Gail Kim as the champ heads out to the ring. Kim gets right back up and gives it back to Havok as they brawl on the outside. No bell yet. Havok tosses Gail's head into the ringpost and Kim is down for a few seconds but gets right back up and they fight some more. Havok gets some offense in but Havok continues roaring back with sheer power. She locks Kim into a bear hug and hammerlock combo and then slams Kim's shoulder into the ring post. Trainers and officials come out and we head to break again.
Back from commercials, the Wolves make their way to the squared circle to announce the all-important final match in the tag title tournament. Davey winds up for the big reveal and then Team 3-D interrupts with their grand entrance. Bully says the Wolves don't get it and that, truth be told, they're really not that good. Bully proclaims that Team 3-D will decide the final stipulation but the Hardys come out and Matt says that Team 3-D isn't in control of this here show. Matt also tells the Wolves that they're not so great and that they should step aside and let "the legends" handle things. Davey tells 'em all to shut it and after a little more jaw-jacking, the fists start flying. Angle breaks it up and tells the Wolves to announce the stip. Davey says it'll be a Full Metal Mayhem match for the titles.
Another quick cut backstage and Anderson and Melendez run into MVP and Kenny King. Anderson and MVP will meet later in a match. Commercials again.
After the commercial, Kurt Angle meets with Gail and expresses concern over her physical state after the run-in with Havok. Gail says she will face Havok tonight no matter what.
Inside the venue, James Storm's posse emerges and they're here for a match.
Shark Boy vs. Manik
Shark Boy emerges to a warm welcome but right off the bat, he struggles to keep pace with Manik. Manik works him over in a big way, pins him until the count of two and then picks him up to break the count. Manik continues to make subtle eye contact with Storm as he continues the punishment. He finally wraps it up with a frog splash and a pin. Mmm...squashy.
Result: Manik defeats Shark Boy via pinfall.
Backstage, Bully Ray fumes over The Wolves' audacity and Devon punctuates it with a "Testify!" Bully says they'll go into "every hall of fame" that wrestling has. Sure hope so.
Anderson's music hits and he's accompanied to the ring by Sarge. It's go time.
Ken Anderson vs. MVP
Both guys try out some grappling and mat work to get things moving. MVP retreats to a corner for a break as the crowd registers its disdain. He comes back up and works Anderson into a corner but breaks as per the ref's instructions. They go at it again and MVP dumps him outside with a sneaky grab of the tights. He goes after Anderson but Melendex blocks his advance out on the floor. Back inside, MVP works over Anderson on the mat and then hits Ken with a running kick in the corner. He works Anderson into a kind of stretch/submission hold and then delivers a knee drop. Anderson works up to a vertical base and they trade blows in the center of the ring. Anderson drops MVP briefly but they go at it again and Anderson hits him with a rolling slam, followed by a near fall. Anderson looks for the mic check but King jumps up on the apron. Melendez knocks down King but the distraction costs Anderson the match after MVP gets a rollup pin.
Result: MVP defeats Ken Anderson via pinfall.
Bobby Roode takes to the ring with a mic and says he's disappointed in himself for losing his match with Lashley. He calls out the champ and puts him over as a fierce competitor. Roode then tells Lashley that he almost had him in the title match and that he wants one more shot at the gold. Lashley takes a mic to respond but MVP interrupts and tells Roode their will be no rematch. MVP and King whisk away Lashley, leaving Roode standing in the ring like a sad panda.
A quick commercial break ensues and then Gail walks out to the ring, lays the title down and tells Havok to come and get it. Havok lumbers out and Gail takes the fight right to her as they fight outside and then make it into the ring for the bell.
Gail Kim vs. Havok for the Knockout Title
Gail strikes fast and hard but her shoulder is taped and she doesn't have full use of it. Havok eventually fights back and drops the champ, taking charge from there. The challenger works Kim over on the mat with some convincing submission-style moves. Gail eventually makes it upright and lands a few punches but Havok moves back into the dominant position quickly. Gail manages to take Havok down and moves outside to apply a hanging figure four in the corner. She comes back in to try and capitalize but Havok drops her, follows with a choke slam and gets the pin to win the title.
Result: Havok defeats Gail Kim and wins the Knockout Title
The official looks over Gail Kim with concern ans Havok holds the belt aloft and the show fades to black.
