WWE NXT Star Gets Big Main Roster Push In Hometown, Has Big Supporter In A WWE Legend

- A good sign on how WWE officials feel about NXT star Sami Zayn is how he was used to close last week's live event in Montreal, his hometown.

Earlier in the night, Zayn lost to NXT Champion Adrian Neville but got a huge pop and "ole!" chants. Zayn was allowed to cut a promo about Montreal and while he lost the match, Neville was booed the whole time. The big moment came when WWE had him run out after the main event. There was a big brawl where heels attacked babyfaces until Sami ran out and helped clear the ring. The show ended with his theme song playing and the crowd chanting "ole!"

Sami closing an event in his hometown is seen as a big deal. The former El Generico reportedly has a big supporter in WWE Hall of Famer Pat Patterson.
