Roberts recalled that Randy was a high-octane opponent and said he had to "lean on" Savage during their matches to make him tired and more receptive to Jake's suggestions for spots and pacing.

Jake explained that his hot feud with Savage during the early 1990s was cut short largely because the Macho Man got so much grief from the parents of his wife Elizabeth Hulette, who was better known to fans as "Miss Elizabeth."

"His in-laws were not smart to the business," said Roberts. "So, they took what I did to her very personal. You know, slapping her and all that crap. They became very angry with Randy and told him not to ever come back to their house again. That he wasn't welcomed. They were calling him and calling him a piece of s–t and everything else. 'You let this girl be treated like that? How dare you let our little girl get treated like that. You said you'd always protect her. You scumbag.' You know, they really went off on the guy." Roberts added that he was somewhat upset that the angle ended rather abruptly but said he understood that changes to the story were necessary due to Savage's personal situation.

"It should have been a much longer feud," said Roberts. "But he had to get even with me and beat me because of what he was doing at home."
