Hulk Hogan Thinks John Cena Would Be Cheered More Than Ever As A Heel

For years fans have clamored for a John Cena heel turn and have drawn comparisons between Cena and former WWE torchbearer Hulk Hogan. Hogan's infamous turn at Bash at the Beach 1996 gave his career a new lease on life and another run on top.

While John Cena may not be in any danger of losing his top spot, the whispers turned into roars about his character years ago. WWE has made mention of Cena's career winding down of late, leading people like Hulk Hogan to question why a change in persona hasn't occured.

Hulk Hogan spoke to 105.3 THE FAN Dallas/Ft. Worth this week about why it has taken so long for a Cena heel turn:

"When you look at the big picture you see ad buys, sponsorships and amount of revenue generated by merchandise, and the fact that he volunteers to go overseas to see the troops. When he's home he sees troops who were messed up in the war, and make-a-wish kids. I guess you can be a bad guy and still generate that type of revenue, which I did. Vince McMahon had a master plan for this guy, I think I know what should be done in wrestling and then I talk to Vince. He has a bigger vision than just making John Cena a bad guy, a bigger vision than what you see in the ring. Vince has a reason for not doing it. You and I would say that he should turn heel right now like I did, and the fans would cheer him more than ever probably," Hogan said.

It's worth noting that Hogan made his turn at age 42 after being a face for more than twelve years. Cena is 37 and approaching his thirteenth year in the company, about 11 of which have been as a babyface.

Hogan also discussed his workout playlist, how Evangelist Joel Osteen gets him going, Tony Romo's injury and more. You can listen to the entire interview at this link.
