Why Tito Ortiz Doesn't Want To Fight King Mo, Wanderlei Silva Update, Melendez - Pettis Preview
- UFC has released a preview for this weekend's lightweight title fight featuring champion Anthony "Showtime" Pettis and challenger Gilbert Melendez. We'll have live coverage of UFC 181 this Saturday, starting with the preliminary fights. You can see the preview video above.
- Bellator MMA fighter and UFC Hall of Famer Tito Ortiz publicly voiced his desire to fight Quinton "Rampage" Jackson, as opposed to "King" Mo Lawal, as many had suggested.
"I mean, right now it's all about my career," Ortiz told Submission Radio. "I have two more fights left on my contract and I think King Mo is just stepping down in my career of fighting somebody, I want to fight somebody with opportunity to fight for a world title. Why would I fight somebody like King Mo. I mean there's no reason to it. It just doesn't make any sense. The guy is a nonsense fighter, he's a journeyman. It doesn't really matter.. I mean he just talks like a street hood rat. This guy just didn't make sense to me."
- Retired UFC and PRIDE FC veteran Wanderlei Silva is asking the courts to review his lifetime ban that was handed down by the Nevada Athletic Commission earlier this year. Silva was banned for life after evading a drug test prior to UFC 175.
Silva has had a public dispute with the UFC since the drug test situation unfolded. Silva was pulled from a Bellator-sanctioned public appearance when the UFC alerted Bellator that despite the retirement, he was still under contract to them.
