Bad News Barrett Was Supposed To Come Out As CM Punk In Chicago After Punk's WWE Departure

After a lengthy absence due to injury, Bad News Barrett is back on the road with the Intercontinental Championship in tow. Barrett took to Chris Jericho's Talk is Jericho podcast and spoke about a variety of topics, namely a high profile nixed segment.

Barrett was supposed to give the fans of Chicago a bit of a surprise... sort of. During WWE's 2014 return to Chicago, Barrett was slated to come out to recently departed CM Punk's entrance theme and deliver his signature "bad news" to Punk's hometown crowd.

"It was in the script until about thirty minutes before the show and they pulled it. I think Paul Heyman ended up doing something similar. I didn't have a storyline angle or important angle at that time, and Heyman and Brock (Lesnar) did," Barrett said.

Barrett also said it probably wouldn't have been the best use of heat, but he still thinks the segment would have been hilarious.
