Big UFC Fight Is Off, Another Big UFC Championship Fight Official, UFC 183 Weigh Ins
- It was announced at the UFC 183 Q&A with Conor McGregor that he'll be challenging UFC Featherweight champion Jose Aldo at UFC 189 on July 11 in Las Vegas. The fight was originally planned for May, but a Jon Jones vs. Anthony "Rumble" Johnson fight will headline a May pay-per-view instead.
You can see McGregor's full Q&A video above.
- As one fight is booked, another is pulled, as Chris Weidman sustained an injury and will be out of his planned UFC 184 fight with Vitor Belfort. Ronda Rousey vs. Cat Zingano will now be the main event.
Weidman tore rib cartilage while wrestling earlier this week. He plans to be ready to return in April or May. Holly Holm vs. Raquel Pennington moves in as a seemingly underwhelming co-main event. The company had stacked the show in order to avoid another major cancellation at the Staples Center in Los Angeles.
- The UFC 183 weigh ins have come and gone, and the card is official for tomorrow night. Co-main event competitor Kelvin Gastelum missed weight big time, coming in 9 pounds over his allowed weight. Fox Sports 1 broadcasters speculated that the fight may not happen because Tyron Woodley was looking to get more money out of the fight.
In addition, John Lineker missed weight for an unprecedented fourth time. His fight with McCall was a likely number one contender's bout, but it's highly unlikely Lineker will be permitted to compete at Flyweight again.
Wrestling Inc will have full live coverage of the pay-per-view, starting with the prelim fights at 6:30.
