CM Punk And MMA Coach Talk About His Progress
As noted earlier, CM Punk completed his first week of MMA training at Roufusport, and his coach Duke Roufus joined him on Inside MMA Friday night to talk about the former WWE champion's progress. Video of their appearance is above.
"I like watching everybody spar, everybody move. It's been a real learning experience for me, but fun for me too." Punk said of his first week. Punk said that the appeal of quality and convenience led him to picking the gym.
"I met Punk two years in Chicago, we've been friendly since then and I knew about his intentions to get into the sport so it wasn't a surprise to me," Roufus said of Punk. "A guy with his magnitude in WWE, I'm really excited to see him come into the UFC."
Roufus said that Punk is doing good, and has shown up with a great work ethic, attitude and learning ability. Roufus said Punk's open mind has impressed him and helped him learn.
CM Punk said that no opponent has been determined, and he's in no rush for it so quickly after his first week of training. He said he's calling himself out more than he's calling anyone else out.
