Big UFC Fight Off After Another Failed Drug Test, UFC Title Fight Set, Tito Ortiz Getting Title Shot
- The UFC can't seem to catch a break, as Hector Lombard has been removed from UFC 186 after the Nevada Athletic Commission announced he failed a drug test for desoxymethyltestosterone. The substance is an anabolic steroid commonly referred to as "DMT." Lombard failed a urine test administered after his January 3 win over Josh Burkman at UFC 182.
Lombard's planned fight with Rory MacDonald at UFC 186 has been pulled. Lombard will await disciplinary action from the Nevada commission.
- Replacing Lombard vs. Rory MacDonald will be a title fight featuring dominant Flyweight champion Demetrious "Mighty Mouse" Johnson taking on Japanese star Kyoji Horiguchi. Horiguchi had said that he would rather wait for a championship fight because he wasn't prepared, but John Lineker missing weight and eliminating Ian McCall from the title picture caused a Horiguchi title shot.
- Speaking of title shots, Tito Ortiz is targeting a June return to the cage. He's aiming for a Bellator title fight after Emanuel Newton and Liam McGeary compete for the title later this month. Ortiz says that he also plans on defending the title once, then retiring.
