Ronda Rousey Goes Off On Ring Card Girl, Former UFC Fighter Under Investigation, Cyborg Fight
- UFC Women's Bantamweight Champion Ronda Rousey and UFC ring card girl Arianny Celeste have had an ongoing verbal battle for several months. Most recently Arianny called Rousey a "bully" for some of her statements.
Rousey refused to shy away from her stance, speaking out on the situation after open workouts.
"What did I say that (made me) a bully?" Rousey said. "That the fighters should get paid more than the ring girls? How does that make me a bully? That makes me f-cking right. I'm sorry, but she wouldn't have a job if it wasn't for the fighters."
It's worth noting Rousey did a full-on workout, and didn't bring up the subject. She was barely asked about her UFC 184 opponent. She also spoke of her respect for UFC ring card girl Brittney Palmer.
Rousey will defend her UFC Women's Bantamweight Championship Saturday night at UFC 184. Wrestling Inc will have full coverage of the event, starting with the preliminary bouts at 7 pm eastern.
- Another name that has had a longtime verbal war with Ronda Rousey, Cris "Cyborg" Justino, will also be in action this weekend. Cyborg will take on Charmaine Tweet in a defense of her Invicta FC Featherweight Championship Friday in Los Angeles. You can see the fight on UFC Fight Pass. Cyborg is also expected to be in attendance Saturday at UFC 184.
- Former UFC fighter Josh Neer is under investigation by the Iowa Athletic Commission after a controversial incident where he took a sparring session a little too far. Neer was challenged by a citizen, and can be seen delivering brutal elbows as well as a soccer kick. The person was still trashing Neer on social media following the incident.
"We are aware of the situation. I have our legal team taking a thorough look at our rules. We're checking to see if we have anything on the books that covers this," an Athletic Commission Executive Director told TMZ.
