New Japan On AXS TV Results (3/6): IWGP Intercontinental Title Match, Nakamura In Action

Yujjiro vs. Testuya Naito

Both Mauro Ranallo and Josh Barnett bring up the fact that Naito has an injured leg. Just like last week's episode, Naito doesn't sell it and repeatedly lands leaping attacks with his injured knee/leg. It doesn't even play much of a role in the match at all.

This match goes back and forth in a pretty even battle, before Naito hits a Stardust Press (on his injured leg). Naito locks on his Puma Blanca submission and gets the win.

Winner: Tetsuya Naito via submission (Puma Blanca)

- Nakamura is talking about Marufuji in a video package.

IWGP Intercontinental Championship
Shinsuke Nakamura (c) vs. Naomichi Marufuji

The crowd is into this one and loud right from the start. The two evade each other's attacks and circle back up, before Nakamura starts working Marufuji over in the corner with nasty knees. Marufuji catches Nakamura's leg and fights back, landing a big clothesline. Marufuji hits Nakamura with a pulling piledriver on the apron that Nakamura sells wonderfully.

The pace slows down considerably as Marufuji locks on a submission, but Nakamura gets to the ropes. A lungblower and a huge back suplex get him the advantage, but he can't hit the Boma Ye and gets caught in the tree of woe. Nakamura comes back and lands the Boma Ye for the win.

Winner: Shinsuke Nakamura via pinfall (Boma Ye) to retain the IWGP Intercontinental Championship

Minoru Suzuki comes to the ring and challenges Nakamura to a title match. Suzuki says if he wins, Nakamura has to join the Suzuki army. Nakamura accepts.
