Ronda Rousey Fires Back At Wal-Mart, UFN Ratings, UFC Rankings Movement
- UFC Women's Bantamweight Champion Ronda Rousey bit back at juggernaut department store chain Wal-Mart after news broke that they wouldn't be carrying her upcoming autobiography. The company deemed it too violent to sell.
Rousey posted the following to her Instagram today:
"Success is the best revenge" one of many lessons I learned from fighting that helped me fight through life's battles off the mat and outside the octagon. @walmart is welcome to watch the success of this publication from the sidelines if they choose. Pre-order #MyFightYourFight here: amazon.com/My-Fight-Your-Ronda-Rousey/dp/1941393268 Side note: I'm totally down for both our 2nd amendment AND books"
- This week's official UFC rankings saw a lot of movement, with several ranked fighters competing on last Saturday's UFC Fight Night show in Fairfax, Virginia.
Dustin Poirier dropped seven spots in the featherweight rankings despite his first round victory on the show. Poirier debuted as a lightweight, but hasn't cracked the 155-pound top 15 as of yet. Al Iaquinta and Jorge Masvidal swapped places at 14 and 15, when Iaquinta won a controversial split decision over Masvidal.
- Speaking of UFC Fight Night: Fairfax, the initial showing on Fox Sports 1 drew 389,000 viewers. Replay showings ended up bumping the total viewership to 1.3 million. The show had an unusual start time of 11 AM eastern, to avoid the NCAA tournament.
